Mercury

The Stallion looked up at the sky, squinting his eyes as he tried to find the cloud. As he found it, the wind blew a little harder and it floated away slowly, leaving a small wisp of cloud behind. It did. He turned his attention back to the Mare and nuzzled her shoulder. I love you. he murmured.

I watch intently as the heart-shaped cloud drifts out of sight. "I love you, too," I say softly, allowing the breeze to carry my words to Mercury's ears. We lay like this for a few moments until my stomach growls, interrupting the silence. Standing up, I give myself a quick shake to rid my silver dapple pelt of debris. I take a bite of the grass and find it to be a mixture of salty and sweet, a flavor that I find irresistible. I swallow and pick up another mouthful, this time offering some to the gray stallion. "Want some?" I mumble around the grass.

Mercury

Shrugging, the Stallion reached forward and nibbled some of the grass Jupiter had offered him. His eyelids felt heavy, he felt as if he didn't get any sleep last night, but he shook out his mane and flicked his ears, keeping himself from falling alseep in front of the Mare. Rolling over onto his back, he rubbed it against the ground and flipped back around, pushing himself up. Want to go for a walk of something? he asked, blinking the sleep out of his eyes and yawning.

I smile as I swallow the rest of the grass. "Sure, sounds like fun!" I say exultantly, wide awake now that I've had a snack. "Let's go!" I turn and start trotting away from Mercury. The sun beats down on my dark coat, causing it to heat up and a thin layer of sweat to form. A couple of flies buzz around me, and I lash my tail at them, spreading my heat-scent unintentionally. After a consderable distance, I bring myself to a halt and turn to look back at Mercury. "Are you coming?"

Mercury rolled his eyes. Let me get up first. he nickered sarcastically, picking up the pace and trotting until he was beside her. You can't slow down, can you? he teased, nipping her shoulder and looking out over his territory. He could smell Trust's border from here, but for once, he didn't mind.

I smile and shake my head. "Slow's not really my forte." I give Mercury a nip on his shoulder as payback and take off before he can retaliate.
