He dragged the deer over to a flat rock, covered by a thin dusting of snow. Suddenly, the earth rumbled with the sound of thunder, sounding as if the world itself was roaring as it split in two. He looked up; heaped thunderheads the color of slate loomed and he smelled the scent of snow, fresh and sharp. He didn't know where Rhea had come from but he doubted she was familiar with the nature of the mountain storms which could blanket the valley for many moons. He looked over at the dens impatiently, he didn't fancy the thought of having to huddle in a dark den with a wet pelt.

She flinched as thunder boomed through the mountains, stumbling forward a bit as it shook the ground. She caught herself, regaining her balance. She'd experienced minor thunderstorms before, but this seemed like a greater threat. "What was that?" she asked, turning to Kori, her eyes wide. She assumed it was only the beginning of what could be coming.
