A knot forms in my stomach as I nod, The first time calling the pride together and it's about a lioness's death, I think as I jump up onto the rock at Jester and I were sitting on early this morning. I wince slightly as I think about Jester for a moment, but shake the thought away, He's okay, he has to be. I think to myself before turning towards the front. I take a deep breath before I release a loud roar, not to loud, but loud enough to call the pride together. As they gather, I sit down and wrap my tail around myself, wearing a blank face, " I have called you together to share some unfortunate news. One of our brave lionesses, Savannah, was attacked by hunters and know only had a short time to live. We must pay our respect before this fine lioness leaves us for good. " I say confidently, the complete opposite of what I feel.

I hear my mother's roar, but ignore it. My eyes shift up slowly as I look at Savannah's face, widening as I see her eye open, " Savannah...! " I say softly, tears streaming down my face. I contain the urge to shout out in protest, shouting why this had to happen and why Savannah. I stare at her as I nudge her cheek gently, my lips quivering.
