She hopped onto a trash can and opened the lid, reveling raw meat from the butcher a few stores down. This was a bin of the old meat they could no longer sell, but dogs could eat it. Sam grabbed two clean cuts and landed on the ground. "Enjoy," She said to Shimmer and gnawed on the meat.

He found an alley, but saw another dog and a pup at the other end of it, so he continued on. Thunder was trying to find food.
