Kale snoozed, his breathing was steady as he dreamed. It wasn't much, he was just bouncing over white fluffy clouds as he sailed through the sky. Soon after he woke up from his nap and stood, his pink tongue curled out and he stretched out his forearms, then his hind legs. He sighed contently, stood his ground and shook out his fur to get out what dirt he could, he then began trotting around camp.


Secret lifted up a leg of the deer, her stomach growled. Oh, how hungry she was. Half of her told her to sit down and eat, the other said to at least bring it to the kill pile. Mountain wouldn't mind, would he? She asked herself, but shrugged it off and looked to Shard, still holding onto the catch, ready to bring it over to the rather empty pile.

Axel looked down. "Yeah. That would've sucked." He sighed, forcing his feelings for her away into a corner of his being. How long had Flower known Mountain? Was he the one who kept a little pup alive so she could become this beautiful wolf.

Kale trotted around, then caught sight of Mountain. He had been thinking of asking for a higher rank, and knew if he didn't speak up now he'd end up just doing nothing all the time. He walked over, his ears pulled back, head low and tail hanging between his legs in respect. "Hello again Alpha Mountain," he started, his voice calm and smooth. "I wanted to talk to you. Could you spare a moment?" He asked, sitting down with his head still low, in full and complete respect of the leader.

I licked his ear with a light laugh. "Back to my den, I guess," I told him.

Mountain nodded and sat down. "What is it Kale? Is something wrong?" He asked, worried for the pack.

Axel blushed and nodded, following her to the den. He sat down in the middle of the den and kept his eyes down.

"Are you feeling ill? Do you need a bite to eat?" I asked, concerned for his behavior.

Axel looked up at him and shook his head. "I'm just a little stressed from earlier is all." He said, smiling at her.

"Oh, well, what did you and Kale talk about?" I asked, hoping it was about why he was mad at me.

"Nothing's wrong with the pack," Kale said, keeping eye contact with the Alpha. "I just" he thought about it, he wanted a higher ranking. Knowing he had to prove worthy of it, if Mountain allowed it, maybe he could get one. "Would like a higher rank, if that's alright with you of coarse." He lowered his head slightly more, and awaited his reply.

Axel shrugged. "Not much really. We just talked about random stuff, pretty much."

Mountain shifted, slightly nervous and he readied himself to fight. "What rank were you thinking about?" He asked, trying to stay calm for now.
