Serenity lay down on the cool rock of the cavern. She tucked her front legs in and let out a sigh. The mare watched her colts quietly, wondering what they'd be like when they were older.

Dakota looked over at his mother as she sighed, "What's wrong mommy?" he asked confused

Serenity looked over at Dakota, "I don't like storms..." She said, sighing again deeply. The mare flicked an ear nervously.

Dakota stood up, "I don't either." he said as he walked over to his mother and laid beside her by his brother.

Aurora turned her head, squinting and seeing the stallin running towards her. Her ears pricked forward, realizing it was Fade. Aurora picked up a run and bolted towards Fade, meeting him halfway. She jumped as thunder boomed, shaking her to the core. "Lets go!" She looked at Fade.

Serenity nodded, and began grooming her son's mane quietly. She then nuzzled him, and then moved to Orrin's mane and groomed his. She absently wondered why she hated other mares so much.

Fade slowed his pace down as he saw Aurora running towards him but kept up a pretty good pace. As he came to her side he nodded, "Let's go, follow me." he said, not wanting to stay in the storm any longer then they had to. Fade turned around and nodded forward, "This way." he began in a trot but quickly picked up his pace until he was at a gallop. Every few seconds he'd look back to make sure that Aurora was still behind him. He was use to doing this, he had always been taller than everyone so he had to make sure he didn't go too fast knowing that his strides would carry him even further.

Dakota closed his eyes and cuddled closer to his mother and brother. He soon fell asleep.

Aurora sped up her pace, making sure to keep close to Fade. As they were running though her feet splashed into a puddle, and the slick, muddy ground beneath it caused her feets to buckle and her to hit the ground. Aurora quickly recovered from the fall though, and pulled herself to her feet, moving into a canter and then catching up to Fade. Her sides were covered with mud now though.

Fade came to a halt when he heard Aurora fall but the slick grass thought otherwise and made him slip, making him fall too. He quickly got up and continued by Aurora's side. He couldn't help but let out a small chuckle, they were both now covered with mud.

Aurora couldn't help but smile a little when she heard Fade chuckle. She let out a faint laugh as she thought about how dirty they both looked, but focused her eyes ahead. "How far do we have to run?" Aurora called to Fade, raising her voice so she could be heard over the rain.
