~Pippa~
Pippa led Summer down to the stables and she opened up the large door and they walked inside, she walked over to a tall grey horse. "This is Maximus III, he is your horse, he is already tacked for you and the school is that way." she pointed. "I will see you there in five minutes."
~Summer~
Summer looked at the grey horse and smiled, she put on her helmet and turned to Pippa. "Ok." Pippa walked away and Summer opened the stall door. "Hello, Boy." she cooned putting out her hand for him to sniff. Max dipped his head and nuzzled Summer's body protector instead. "Hey that's not for you to eat." she laughed as she was pushed back a little by the strong-headed horse. She checked his girth and he snorted, she stretched his legs and then untied the reins and did up his throat lash making sure everything was sitting properly and buckles in the right place, she led him out and then walked him to the school. The sky had clouded a little but the sun struggled to shine through, she stopped in the middle of the sandy school, Pippa nowhere to be seen. She went to the left side and tightened her reins and took the pommel in her left hand and the cantle in her right and hostisted herself up and swung her leg over and gently seated herself on his back, he shifted position to take her weight, she gathered her reins making sure she had good contact on the mouth. She squeezed her legs and he didn`t move. She squeezed them harder and gave him a little kick and he walked on, she squeezed him on and he walked fast with his head bobbing up and down. Pippa arrived. "Good, Now, walk him round the school until you get to A." Summer nodded in acknowledge meant, she got to K when Pippa spoke again "I want you to go up the centre line and trot at D." Summer nodded again and she turned the corner sharply at A and then relaxed her hands a little and kicked Max into a trot. "Nice, chck your diagonals." Summer did that and changed twice to get it right. "Then at C, I want you to do a 20m circle, ok?" Summer nodded and turned him on a right rein the opposite rein to the way she walked last time and still in rising trot she came round across X to M. "Ok, Now do a three looped serpertine at C." Summer turned across the school from H to M and then from B to E and then K to F and coming round to A. "Now do a 10m circle at E." Summer looked where she was going. "Hold your hands up a bit more, he likes loose reins, but keeps his head high, keep the reins short so you still have contact encase but use your legs." Summer nodded and raised her hands, she did a wonky 10m circle at E. "That was ok, but you have to use more inside leg and inside rein to bend him, you did a lovely serpertine though, but your too sharp on the corners you need to relax and making him curve round that corner instead." she said and Summer was at F. "Right now do a 5m circle at K." Summer did that and she slipped to much to the right doing a tight circle. "Keep your shoulders square and you wont have a problem about leaning to the right so much. Right now, when you get to the next corner take him to canter." Summer nodded relaxing and she got to H and sat in trot and then put her leg on the outside back and pushed forward with her hips. Max nodded his head and took off a little too fast. "Pull him up, he is too fast, your slacking on your reins." She nodded and pulled him up, finding it easier to sit to a slower canter. "Nice." Now do a 20m circle in canter at C." She did that she crossed x and made her way round to H. "Bring him back to trot at M." She did. "Right I want you to do a slow and steady trot to D on the centre line from A." Summer nodded, she wiggled her reins making him slow down in trot more, but she squeezed her legs to stay in trot, she rounded the corner coming up the centre line at D. "Right now walk." Summer sat and Max slowed to a walk. "You have done really well, Halt at X." Max halted at X. "Right, before you go, I want you to do several strides going backwards to D." Summer nodded and pulled on Max's reins tightly, he reared. "That's a little too tight." Summer relaxed the reins and Max landed. "You alright?" Pippa asked. "Yeah" Summer said quietly a little stunned and then pulled on the reins gently. "It helps if you talk to him, nice and clear, Back." Max stepped back. "See, I could make you go back myself." she smiled. Summer smiled weakly and then concentrated she didn`t want to experience another rear, she pulled lightly on the reins doing a break every other second. "Back." she said quietly. "No louder!" Pippa said. "Back" Summer said louder. "Louder!" Pippa exclaimed. "Back!" Summer said clear and loud. Max stepped back three times to D. "Good, You can go and put him in his stable and get the next rider please, if you have to choose someone." Pippa smiled. "Just remember that keep your shoulders straight, be confident and loud and loose reins, Ok." Summer smiled "Yes, Thank you." "No problem." Summer walked Max out and dismounted him outside the barn and led him in and put him in his stall and twisted his reins and bolted the door on the way out, she went back to the house and up the stairs. "Whose next?" she called into the dorms.
