Silk heard the mourningful howl from Ollie. "Nia, no. you can't be dead, I promised you!" She ran towards Nia's cold body. "I told you that you'd be as happy as ever one day, I thought I was right!" Tears fell from her eyes. "I'm sorry Nia, I'm sorry I wasn't right, I'm sorry I failed you..." How, how could two wolves die in one day?

Ollie went back to his tight ball, drowning in misery. His life had revolved around Nia for three whole years. He sniffled, his heart torn.

Moony's pained howl now spoke of the two faes, not just one. The two faes she didn't even know the names of. The two faes she felt slightly responsible for, slightly guilty for...
But the Alphess was calling.
Moony cantered into Cove's den and skidded to a halt beside the pregnant female. "Miss Cove!"

I smiled at Yue-Tala. "I was thinking that maybe you would like to know the names of the wolves who have died? They were both fae's. Nia and Kayna. Kayna has a pup, Echo. Nia was the pup-sitter. I have been thinking. If you decide to join us, our pups need to be watched. You still have the freedom to hunt and fight, and watching the pups play would be enjoyable. Also, if there was ever an attack, then the pup-sitter should be able to fight. But if you do not want to be a sitter, I could always fill in, as my pups will soon be joining the pack." I smiled. How would Tala react to this offer?

Moony jumped up and down three times to physically show off her enthusiasm and willingness to help. "As long as I'm making myself useful, I have no complaints at all referring to which position you would have me in. If an open position is pupsitter, of course I would like to trial it!" She loved defending those she cared about, too, so a booster of the job would be the fighting part. "I can also hunt and fight for the pack when necessary, Miss."

Cove

I smiled at the young fae's enthusiasm. "We'll give it a go, then," I said kindly. "And see how it goes. I'm sure the pups, Balt and Eco, will adore you!" I exclaimed.

"If we never try, Miss, then we'll never know!" Moony pointed out optimistically. "May I meet them?" Of course, it was all up to the Alphas. They had to trust her, almost a complete stranger, enough to allow her time alone with the pups. The pupsitters in a pack seemed unimportant when spoken about but it was a job that required much trust.

Cove

"Of course," I said, struggling to get to my feet. My leg twisted and I yelped. I stood up and limped over to the pup's den. Echo bounded over.

Echo

"Who's that?" I asked curiously.
"Echo, this is Tala. She's going to be your pup-sitter for a while," Cove said. I bounced up and down excitedly.
"Oooh! Hello Tala! I'm Echo!" I cried, and did what I always did when I met new wolves; launched myself at her and began bouncing on her playfully. I giggled happily. Cove shot me a stern look, but I ignored it.

"I'm sorry about Echo, Tala," I apologised. "She is my niece. Kayna was my sister." I looked down at my paws in sorrow, before composing myself and looking up again.

Moony winced as her new Alphess cried out when her leg twisted strangely, but did not speak up until they reached the den of the pups. "Hello, Echo! It's nice to meet you. I'll be here to look after you and Balt for a little while," she laughed as the pup bounced on her. As long as the little ones were happy and safe, she didn't mind what they did within their caregiver's guidelines. Now, she shot Cove a guilty and saddened glance when the other female fell silent. "Miss, if it's not too bold to say, you are heavily pregnant. That alone should announce you bedridden, but as well as the recent sorrowful activities placing even more stress on you..." she trailed off."Hou should rest. Please do not worry about me. A day's rest and a little more food and water, and soon I'll be looking after you."

Her eyes filled with loss, Silk slowly padded to Stones den. She went inside and lay down, then closed her tear-filled eyes.
