Kit's eyes widened. She jumped in after and swam to the rock. she gently grabbed her by the scruff of the neck and carried her to shore. The wound didn't look to serious, but Kitsune began to clean it with her tounge anyway. She sat in a patch of warm grass doused in sunlight. As she was cleaning little Smallteeth, she kept murmering "Baka, baka, baka, baka-pup..." under her breath. She managed to find some cobweb nearby and placed it on her wounds.

Badger thought she could hear hollwing.

"How are you settling in the pack?" Rico asked gently. He watched her with careful eyes, having now sat down, but he was relaxed, and calm.

Smallteeth cried as she was licked clean of her blood, and the cobwebs were placed on them. She whimpered, looking wistfully at the leaf that had soon drowned underwater.

"Pretty good.."flickers her ears before laying down

Rico tilted his head. "So, meet anyone? Make any new friends?" He just felt he should talk to someone.

"Hush," Breathed Kitsune. "It's the way of life." She pushed the pups muzzle so they were face to face. The sun shone brgihtly on Kitsune's black fur, and her jade eyes hald the warmth of the rays themselves. "The leaf you saw was a child of a tree. But they aren't like pups like you. They have a duty, a promise they must fulfil. We promise to protect the trees and their leaf-children, just so they keep us safe. Come forth winter, the trees release their children to the forest floor. They snap, they crunch whenever a clumsy foe of the proud wolf lumbers near. In return, we protect the trees from the Two-leggeds. You know, they say that the wind carries leaves to their resting places. As it seems, that one little leaf wasn't ready to move on, rather it wanted to play," She took a breath, "...with you. I suppose its resting place was to be in the depths of the river, and you made it happy in its final days." She noticed the pup whimper. "Do not greive," she said softly, but sternly, like a mother-wolf.

Ice shook her head "not many, just you and a pup..though im used to not being noticed sometimes.."

Staring at Kitsune with awed eyes,s he wagged her tail. "Wow.." she said, astonished. That's all she could get out. "That's.. amazing," she yipped. "I will protect the forest from whom ever the two-legs are! Leaves are my friend!" She was saying this in a proud, stern, and soldier-like voice. "Yes! I will be their guardian. And I'll be their friend! And they'll want to play with me." Her tail wagged even more. "Thank you for telling me that, mommy," the little pup finally said, her eyes dancing.

"I'm sure you'll meet others," Rico coaxed. "I'm sure there are many wolves here who'd like to be your friend." He nodded, giving a light smile.

Kit's eyes widened. Those where the pups first words...mommy? She was taken aback. "Wh-what's your name, little wolf-ling?" She was asstonished...mommy!?
