River
The chestnut paint mare walked back to the band, content in her dicision to mate with Nanuk, she couldn't wait for the colt or filly to arive. She grazed peacefully flicking her tail from side to side, ears swiling around listening to every little thing she could hear. The sound of flys bussing around, water rushing and splashing onto rocks, birds singing there early evening song, and then she herd Nanuk's call to her and Azteca. She walked slowly dragging her hoolves along the ground to the shade, she was feeling tire from this long day.
Sleep wasn't on her mind though, there was many things running through her brain. Would her father come back for her, what would her life be next spring, would this foal be a colt or filly, what were the other two mares name, and the biggest question that bothered her the most was, Would Nanuk lose intrest in her when his band was large. She brushed the thought away and tried her best to thing about how happy she was now.
Boots
The large stallion wouldn't let his daughter getting away stop him from making a large herd. He even strived to have a larger and stronger herd than the black stallion who stole his Daughter and only mare away from him. He galloped to the top of a hill and scanned the area, seeing many mares but his eyes were stuck on his daughter. She was standing lazily under some trees with two other mares. He had no intrest in getting his daughter back, but he wanted to teach the stallion a lesosn by snakeing away one of his mares. He headed toward the group of mares when Nanuk headed off. He neighed loudly and dropped his head low to the ground, smelling Zentai heat he decided she would be the one he would go after. He didn't care if the stallion had already mated her, he would easily kill the foal. He didn't know though and wouldn't be able to tell unless he was able to snake her away, and was able to keep her with her long enough to tell if she was in gestation.
His ears were pinned back to his head and he pulled his lips back showing his teeth. As he got a few feet away River trotted off calling ot the other mares as she went. He lifted his head only to look back and see her standing there with her neck stretched out whinning loudly. He nipped at the red Mare and held his ground, he expected for her to give a fight and he wouldn't allow himself to leave with out her.
