Työn
With his tongue lolling out the side of his mouth, breaths coming out in puffs, Työn eased his pace as Amber slowed. The harness around him jerked a bit, and his footsteps faltered, but he managed to keep a relatively steady pace. He huffed in a bit of annoyance, but said nothing, as opposed to the few growls he could hear above the roaring blizzard. His fur whipped with the wind, and snow clung to his coat, the tips of the furs stiff with frost. Ahead, through half-closed eyes, he managed to spot Amber's silhouette. He spotted her swinging her head back and forth, for any signs of the path they were to follow, but after a few moments of hesitation, they were on the move again.
Työn's muscles groaned under the protest, his bones beginning to hold the strain of pulling the sled after several years. His body was a little shaky, particularly in such weather as this, but he went on without any doubt. Although the situation was bad, Työn wouldn't doubt his musher's commands, or the lead's decisions. The run was slow as the team dragged through the snow, but at least they were getting somewhere, he hoped. In his mind's desire to rest, Työn's brain didn't even register Amber's yelp, not that he would hear it anyway through the howling wind and the harshness of his own ragged breathing. However, his eyes did catch the sudden figure disappear into the snow.
What happened? Työn gave a whiny yelp, hoping the lead dog would hear him. Of course, he was smart enough to realize that the snow couldn't have just covered her. She must have slipped. Työn, as soon as his brain comprehended the situation, quickly dug his paws into the ground. The action was quite inevitable, however, as the snow was deep and did not hold him well. The snow sprayed out from beneath him as he skidded to a near stop. However, before he could actually do anything, Työn's harness jerked him forward, and he tumbled over the edge, all the while howling in panic.
