Spirit whickered gently, encouraging her forward. "Just a little further," he told her, nuzzling her forelock. "We'll be back in our territory soon." Spirit's mind raced with worrisome thoughts. It's spring...predators have babies to feed, they'll be hungry, and an injured horse is easy pray...
