Look up at the stars
and not down at your feet.
Try to make sense of what you see,
and wonder about what makes the universe exist.
Be curious.

She sighed and sat down on her bed. She was wearing a black tank top under a gray t-shirt that had a black bleeding heart on it. She wore skinny jeans and her military boots. She had pockets on her boots. She stuffed ten dollars in the right one and a small knife in the other. She always kept the knife with her for emergancies. Her eyes were heavily painted with eyeliner and her nails black. She put on some chap stick. She stood and walked out her door. She walked through the house and outside. She ventured to the park and sat on the swing. It rocked a bit. She looked at the little bugs flying through the air. She then stared down at her arm. She touched the 8 inch scar. She ran her finger down it. She shivered as the memories came flooding in. She winced remembering the pain. She touched the spot where she had a bruise on her cheek from the last attack. It was coated in makeup so it was not visable. Her pale skin made her look like a ghost in the sun. She was a ghost. She was meerly a shell of the person she used to be. Her personality went away with her soul the night her mother died. She had watched it. Her father beat her mother so bad she just gave up and died. Her brother ran away that night. She hid in her closet. He dad later found her crying. That was the night she had received the scar. She was dead inside. Her body just decided to keep on living. She looked out onto the open feild were kids played. She had never got to play at the park and have fun. She had always used it as a shelter and a place to get away. She looked at a bug scurring into a crack. She wished she had a crack to hide in. She didn't. No matter where she went her dad would find her, the further away the worse she was hurt. She let her hands swing by her sides. She hated having to think about what happened but that was all her memories. She had once tried to run and fight back but that got her in a hospital for an 'animal attack'. She stayed there for two weeks recovering. It was heaven. When she returned home she was beat harder than ever because of the bill. She sighed. Her breath white in the cold wind. She was not wearing a jacket but did not notice the cold. She never did. She only ever felt the strikes on her. She looked at her bump covered arms. She then saw the scar again. A black tear streamed down her cheek. She had never got the chance to greive for her dead mother. She never would.
