She rested her head on Nick's shoulder this time, instead of the tree trunk. "Well, thank you." Somehow, she knew he wasn't kidding, like many other guys had. "I'd say something about you, but I'd screw it up."

Nick allowed her to rest against him. She could hear his heart beating against his chest. "That's alright," He smiled.

Something inside her made her think he was smiling. He did smile a lot. She listened to his heartbeat for a bit, caught up in the rhythmic thump thump of it.

Nick sat in the silence, enjoying the moment. When nick looked behid then he noticed his hand was stretched behid Adalynn, resting on te tree branch behind her. His other was in his lap.

After a while, she shifted her gaze up to the sky again. Her mind was swimming with thoughts once more; she had failed to notice Nick's arm. She just watched the sky, not wanting to ruin the silence.

Nick followed her gaze but not for long. Soon he was staring at her. Smiling.

Eventually, she closed her eyes, a small smile still plastered to her lips. This moment felt special, and it made her feel good. She felt safe, up in a tree, head resting on Nick's shoulder.
