Sara smiled "so it is that bird watching me" Sara said with a giggle "I like you too" Sara whispered.

Skylar giggled "Yeah that bird does." he said giggling over the fact that she like him.

Liz unscrewed the lid to her water bottle and started pouring it over the wound. After the blood was wiped away, Liz saw the wound was a deep cut and gently pressed her fingers around the laceration, careful not to put too much weight on it. "Okay, now, tell me when it hurts." She murmured while Sofia hastily stuffed the water bottle back into Liz's bag and gathered the bloody towels. "You seem like a smart kid," Liz continued, "Do you think you hurt the tendon at all?"

"Sof." Charles caught up with his daughter as she made her way over to the nearest trash bin. "How did you meet James?"
Sofia's cheeks burned and she was glad the trees were hovering all around to ensure the shadows lurked. "I fell out of a tree." She wasn't sure how sacred James thought of his writings and so Sofia decided against informing her father of the magnificent voice she had been drawn to.
"You fell out of a tree..." Charles raised an eyebrow, suspicious written along the lines of his face, but lifted with humor. "Do you two kids go to the same school, or what?"
Sofia shrugged, "I've never seen him around."
Charles chuckled, a deep chuckle that caught in his throat and jumped along with his Adam's Apple. "Well, alright then, Sof."
Sofia furrowed her eyebrows together and her voice was strained in an accusing tone. "Have you seen him around?"
Her father just lifted his eyes to stare at the moon and shrugged sliding his hands in his front pant pockets. "Never," he said with that humorous frown of his which indicated he knew differently.

Trust me, I know what self-loathing is,
but to kill myself?
That would put a damper on my search for answers.
Not at all productive.

James winced when she cleansed the wound. That was a very uncomfortable feeling. Not really painful, just uncomfortable. "Ow," his leg automatically twitched back. "Ow, ow." What a silly demand. 'Tell me when it hurts'. He could never understand why doctors said that. Didn't they know it was hurting with the screams and instinct to pull away? They must take screams of pain as screams for joy for getting fixed by a doctor. "God, I hope not," he whispered. His older brother had once torn his Achilles and it was incredibly painful and took far too long to heal. He was beginning to question the ability of this nurse. No wonder he had no faith in the human race.
