Shane shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut and leaning his head forward on the wall, hands clenched in front of him, into fists.

"Oh. My. God." Reed said in a voice several octaves higher than usual, "Why?!" he asked rhetorically, then moved towards Shane, very gently touching his shoulders with the tips of his fingers. "I'm sorry. I should've been there."

Shane threw a fist down, shutting off the scalding water that now left burns on the insides of his mouth and skin. He backed up into the wall, hitting it hard and still shaking with sobs. He slid down, shaking his head.

"Oh, Shane." Reed said sadly, watching as they not slid down the wall, sobbing. "Shh. I know." he whispered, sitting down next to him. Reed grabbed one of his hands, squeezing it gently. "It'll be okay."

Shane tore his hand away from Reed, pulling his legs to his chest and hugging them tightly in fear, still shaking his head.

Reed looked pityingly at Shane. "Shane, whether I remember it or not, I sort of know what you're going through. The feeling that you're dirty or indecent. But you're okay now. You're safe. You don't ever have to see him again." he said in the most comforting voice he could manage while he was infuriated. How dare Sebastian break him like this.

Shane lifted his head, eyes blood-red and teary, body red with burns and wet with water. He hiccuped again, sniffling and wiping at his eyes. "I d-don't?" He murmured softly, eyes filled with so much pain and fear.

Reed hesitated - why had Shane picked up on his one lie? Of course he would see Sebastian again - for god's sake - they went to the same school. It was inevitable that at some point, they would run into each other. Not to mention, he highly doubted that Sebastian would take the breakup well. Instead of answering, he gently held one of Shane's arms, looking at the burns from the water.

Shane winced, tugging his arm away from Reed and dropping his head back into his knees. He shivered as a bit of air passed over his wet body and clothes.
