{Plot}
It is spring of 2012, and Black Adder Valley, a stud barn, has re-opened for business. The stud itself is situated in a mountain valley, a two hours drive to the nearest city. The mild climate of the valley is soothing to the nerves, as well as providing rich grass during the warm seasons- the stud closes up in the winter, attended only by the owner and those who are willing to withstand the temperature. There are a few roads which run through the valley, used mainly by the staff at the stud and people of the villages in and around the valley. Said roads are good enough to drive on, but quite bumpy, and can be quite dangerous after a rain. It is because of this that the stud has seen very few robberies in its short history.

Well, that is, until they built a highway through the valley. The highway itself loops around the edge of the valley, disrupting very little of the vegetation, but it allows people to easily pass through. And though it is a good thing for business, it also allows the dishonest type access to the valley. Horses have already been stolen, though the thefts were few and far-between. But it is now up to the team at Black Adder to ensure that those thefts are the only ones that will happen.

{Basically}
Basically, you are a member of the staff team at a horse stud called Black Adder Valley. The government have recently built a highway through the valley it is situated in, allowing for easier access to the outside world and competitions, but also for horse thieves, which are still plenty. Your goal is to make it through the spring, summer and autumn without losing any horses. You will be roleplaying as either a horse, a staff member, or both. All horse thieves will be NPCs, played by everyone.

{Barns}
Competitors- has enough space for 10 horses. Horses in this barn are specifically used to compete, and go through rigorous training each day. They do not take part in breeding.

Broodmares- has enough space for 15 horses. These are the mares that will be producing foals for the centre. many of them are retired competitors, or mares who have sustained an injury and can no longer compete, but are still able to walk. The foals live with their mothers until they are six months old, before being moved to the Foals' barn.

Studs- has enough space for 15 horses. These are the breeding stallions of the centre. Like the broodmares, many of them are retired competitors, or horses who have been injured in a competition and are no longer able to compete.

Foals- has enough space for 10 horses. The foals live here from six months to twenty-four months, after which they are transferred to one of the adult horse barns.

Retired- has enough space for 10 horses. This is the barn that all the old horses who are no longer able to compete or breed are kept, to live out the ends of their lives in peace.

{Jobs}
Competitors- maximum of 10. These are the people who earn money and prestige for the center by racing the horses.

Grooms- maximum of 15. These are the ones who make sure the horses are in perfect condition, mainly by grooming them, cleaning their stalls and reporting to the vets if they spot any issues. They are also the ones who turn the horses out to pasture and take care of the breeding practices.

Riding Instructors- maximum of 10. These people also earn money for the center by giving lessons to children. The horses ridden during the lessons are usually the newly-retired horses, studs or broodmares that are not heavily pregnant.

Veterinarians- maximum of 5. These are the people who ensure the health of the horses and deal with any complications arising from an illness, injury or birth of a foal.

Image
Name:
Enigmatic Mystery {Enigma}
Gender:
Male
Age:
Seven years
Purebred?:
No
Breed:
1/2 Friesian, 1/2 Arabian
Barn:
Competitors
Description:
Some call him handsome, others don’t, and he himself thinks that he is quite plain and not something to look at. Enigma is completely black, with not a single hair of another colour on his body. He stands at a good 15.2hh, is quite muscular, and has a decently long mane and tail. His coat is always sleek, thanks to the grooms, and his mane and tail are rarely ever tangled, although he sometimes does come back with leaves, burrs and other debris sticking to him. His Friesian heritage gives him the characteristic long mane and tail, as well as the feathers on his lower legs.
Personality:
Enigma fits his name perfectly, in every way. One day, he may be a good, solid, gentle horse, but the next day he’s completely savage, bucking off anyone who tries to ride him and refusing to allow anyone near him, if he sees they have a saddle. He reacts poorly to the whip or the riding crop, refusing to budge until the lashing stops- this is the only predictable thing about him. Many horse experts have been called in to try and assess his personality, but they all say that there is nothing they can do- it’s simply how he is, and that he likes to have fun with his rider every once in a while. When he sees that young children are about to ride him, though, he restrains himself and allows them to ride him with as few jolts as possible. He is also very unfit to use as a breeding horse, as he feels that he cannot do that sort of a thing to a mare and shies away from them whenever someone leads him over to one in heat.
History:
Enigma was the result of an accidental breeding, when his father broke into his mother's stall while the owners were away. His mother was a mild, patient Arabian broodmare while his father was the feisty one; Enigma inherited both their genes, making him a nightmare to train. He was eventually taken in by Carmen, who managed to break through his insanity and train him. Deciding early on that his Friesian blood would be more serviceable to the stud, she began to train him as a trot racer, slowly dragging him up the ladder. The two of them have won many competitions together, and several folks have asked if they could buy him, but Carmen is very unwilling to give up the horse she's worked on for so long.
Strengths:
Very dedicated to his training, good at trotting
Weaknesses:
A bit of a workaholic, doesn't know when to stop, is a bit oblivious sometimes to what anyone says around him, highly unpredictable
Owner:
Carmen Leandro
Other:
None

Image
Name:
Carmen Adele Leandro
Gender:
Female
Age:
Twenty-seven
Job:
Stud Owner
Description:
Carmen looks like she could fit right in if she were cast back to the Victorian era. With thick, long, curly blond hair and sky blue eyes, and a skin tone which makes Elizabeth I look tanned, the only thing that gives away what era she lives in is her clothing. You can usually see her out and about wearing a t-shirt of some sort and a pair of black pants, occasionally with a coat thrown on if it is chilly. She is a bit taller than the average girl, measuring 5'9" or 175 meters, which is useful for when she wishes to impose her authority upon someone.
Personality:
A social butterfly at times and a recluse at others, Carmen is a bit of a strange character. She gets bored quite easily if left on her own for long periods of time, but at the same time wishes she could just get away from everyone. She is very attached to her horses, seeing them in the same light as she would her own family, and that kind of attitude eventually spread towards the rest of the staff team as well. Carmen likes to be kept busy, be it chasing after a runaway horse or in the office, slogging through paperwork. It was this "keep the ball rolling" attitude that helped her to expand the stud into what it is today.
History:
Abandoned at birth by her mother, Carmen was raised by the family that found her and adopted their name as her own. The Leandro family had a farm/estate out in the country, where they grew various types of fruit and kept a few horses, cows and sheep. Carmen, and later her siblings, grew up tending the animals and doing farm work, which is what instilled the strong work ethic and the need to be busy inside her. She was always drawn to the horses the most, riding them every day and taking them out to pasture. After she graduated university with a degree in veterinary sciences, she took on a job at a different stud barn, working there for a couple years before leaving and setting up her own stud barn. Business was slow at first, until she bought Enigma from his previous owners; after four gruelling years of training, she finally deemed him good enough to participate in a competition. The four years of work weren't wasted, at any rate. The two of them won that competition and went on to win many more together, carving out a reputation for the little stud barn tucked into the valley.
Strengths:
Has a strong work ethic, knows what she's doing, has quite a bit of experience
Weaknesses:
Can be domineering at times, needs something to do constantly, is very strict, highly unpredictable
Horses:
Enigmatic Mystery
Other:
Is currently single, but not looking for a relationship. Her work keeps her occupied for the most part and she has no time to go looking for love.

Personality:
Kyle is a catch, he is friendly, mostly wild, well i mean all the time he is wild. If you tell him a secret, he keeps it to himself for a while, once he breaks up with her, he spreads your secret like a wild fire. He doesn't hold in his own secrets as well, unless its about how he won't let the girl close enough to hurt him.

Okay! Anywho, Kyle is the guy who is the one drinking all the beer, that guy who never has the same personality each time you meet him... He does complain a lot, mostly about how he is "hurt" and by hurt, he means heart broken, meaning he is looking for a... "mate" i should say. Mate as in, the right girl, not the "right" girl, the perfect girlfriend, that he will love.. but he isn't ready for a wife. I will give you that. He says his chest hurts, say it is heart burn or something, but he means he is heart broken.. he eats very healthy so it couldn't be heart burn. He can be very laid back, but he can also be a complete spaz, he might just be sitting there about to fall asleep, get up and start singing or dancing. Who knows, he gets bored easily, so thats one of the reasons why he cheats on his girlfriends..

Oh, he cheats on girls, he comes on all, flirty, and shy, then while he is dating that girl, he will do the same to her, then soon dump the old one, then move on... he might dump them both. He does come up with weird, slash fat stories, like. "I found a stick and it was a great walking stick, lost it then i was sad... " I was true, but he just words it differently to make it sound even more funny.

Name:
Harmonic Symphony {Harmony}
Gender:
Mare
Age:
5 Years
Purebred?:
Yes
Breed:
American Paint Horse
Barn:
Competitions
Description:
Harmony, well she can either be a beautiful, graceful mare, or a total mess on four hooves. She is a 15.4 hand high paint mare with black overo markings. She has one white sock on her left hind leg.. Harmony has a black mane and tail with a single white streak in her mane. It can be hard on the grooms to clean her at times since her left side is almost completely white with a few areas of black hairs that don't get dirty as fast, at least they don't look like they do.
Personality:
On an average day, Harmony is a quiet mare, normally sticking to herself and resting up for whatever the day is to bring her. On those days she can be very calm, mellow, and easy to control as well. She has always been determined and as stubborn as a mule though, and she wouldn't move even if you put a bunch of carrots in front of her if she didn't want to. The phrase "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink," is the perfect description of this part of her personality. Either way, Harmony will refuse to do anything if she is not in the mood, which makes it hard to train her sometimes.
History:
Harmony was born on a small ranch far off from Black Adder Valley. She was meant to be their top competition horse, but they overworked her, and she ended up almost breaking her ankle. Eventually she recovered from that and her owners sold her to Black Adder, since they had gone bankrupt after not being able to pay for their horses. Now Harmony resides here, again training to be a competition horse. Now she is a bit more stubborn and hesitant, but with time she will try hard again.
Strengths:
She is eager to train, and she is ok at jumping
Weaknesses:
She is hesitant, her ankle is a bit more vulnerable, and she is very stubborn
Owner:
Black Adder
Other:
None
Out of the darkness, fretted sometimes in its sleeping,
Jets of sparks in fountains of blue come leaping
To sight, revealing a secret, numberless secrets keeping.

And out of the invisible, streams of bright blue drops
Rain from the showery heavens, and bright blue crops
Surge from the under-dark to their ladder-tops.

And all the manifold blue and joyous eyes,
The rainbow arching over in the skies,
New sparks of wonder opening in surprise.

All these pure things come foam and spray of the sea
Of Darkness abundant, which shaken mysteriously,
Breaks into dazzle of living, as dolphins that leap from the sea
Of midnight shake it to fire, so the secret of death we see.

Sara Glenn
Gender:
female
Age:
22
Job:
Groom
Description:
Sara stands around 6'1 feet tall. Her build is slim and muscled from carrying bails of hay around. She has a lighter farmers tan from spending a lot of time outside. Her hair is a dark brown with some lighter hightlights where the sun has bleached it a bit. Her eyes are similar in shade, they are large and set wide on her face. On a normal day she wears her favorite pari of faded green short-shorts, and a grey tank top. However if she knows that she will be haying she will wear a pair of cargo pants. No matter what she is wearing she usually has a pair of work gloves stuck in her back pocket.
Personality:
Sara is a nice girl. She likes peace and quiet, which is why she is out here and not living in the city. Though she is a nice person when people first meet her she is very shy, and will just with draw into herself until they become familiar. When you do become her friend she is very loyal.
History:

she can be shy (except when she is talking about the horses ;) )

Image
Name:
Dancing Swallow (Bird)
Gender:
mare
Age:
4.5
Purebred?:
yes
Breed:
thoroughbred
Barn:
broodmare
Description:
Bird is a young mare so she is not quite at her absolute tallest, however she is still very tall, standing around 16.3 hands. She is muscled but not as much as she could be because her training had to stop once she was injured. She has long delicate looking legs ending in neat hard hooves. Her coat is a lighter bay with darker legs, and without any white markings. She has small cute little ears, and she has large efficent nostrils. She usually has a shine to her coat from the grooms tender work, and she tends to like the attention. At the moment she has a large barrel from the foal she is carrying at the moment.
Personality:
Bird is a sweet little girl. She loves to come up to people in the field and nuzzle them for attention or treats. Though she has a very nice temperment she can have a bit of a flighty attention span. This comes from her time as a racer, where all she needed to do was run as fast as she could. Also recently she has been slowly down because her foal is getting bigger. The pregnancy has also made her a bit more figity than usual, so although she does not mean it she can be a little pushy at times.
History:
She grew up on a high class thoroughbred farm. Her parents were both very sucsessful racers, and the farm knew that Bird would be great. As she grew she proved them right as her speed and stamina won races. Then during her last race the track was wet and the other competitors boxed her in and bumped her over close to the railing where the softest turf was. Unable to keep her footing she fell and twisted her back right leg badly. Seeing that she would never again be able to race the stable sold her to Black Adder as a broodmare. Finding a stallion that would be able to match her own speed and stamina she was bred, and now she is heavily pregnant.
Strengths:
fast
high stamina
good temperment

Weaknesses:
young
was injured
heavily pregnant

Owner:
belongs to the barn
Other:
nope

His coat is a deep bay, almost boardering black. He has a thick flaxen mane and tail both of which are long, his tail falling to the ground and his mane to about his lower chest. Though he might look completely unmarked at first he does have thin bands of white encircling around the tops of his hooves.
Personality:
From his breed he inheirited a calm easy going personality. Steady and calm Warrior has a kind heart and a good head. He is a very gentle horse, to the point where he has let little kids run under foot and even climb onto him while he was in paddock. He is very patient with most however if he feels that he is being unfairly treated his size can make tough to deal with.
History:
[size=85]His parents were originally from Germany, but they were imported to the US along with a bunch of others. He was born on a small farm, there they owners started to train him as a pleasure riding horse. Sara bought him and seeing that he was much more suited to driving she started training him. Soon he was winning alomst every pleasure driving class that he was taken to. Knowing that he was a very good example of the breed Sara also showed him in halter classes but he faired less well there, only winning a select few of the shows. Now he is here at Black Adder farm, since he is older his is also sometimes used as a lesson horse, but Sara still takes him to shows.

Calico has a even gulla coat. His mane is a dark black with lighter highlights layered on top. He only stands about 14.2 hands and his build is light. But his muscles are tough as coilled cables from his wild years. His mane and tail have never been trimmed so they have grown as long as they were allowed. His hide has a sprinkling of old scars from his younger days, but once in a while he will gain a new scar.
Personality:
These days he is a calm easy going horse. He does not like for things to get to complicated. However once in awhile his youthful side shows up and he acts like a spirited hot blooded colt. On a good day he will let people come out and take a short bareback ride on him. However on a bad day he can be grumpy and not let anyone near him.
History:
When he was very young Calico lived wild as part of a herd. He was rounded up and sold to the barn where he was trained to compete in stiple chase and in hunter jumper. His early life in the wild made him sure of foot, letting him navigate coarses with ease, and his early life made him very swift. Eventaully he became to old to compete so he was used as a lesson horse, a good ride for those who were not very confident, and a challenge for those who needed one.
Strengths:
calm
good at jumping
an easy keeper

Weaknesses:
old
can be stubborn at times
can be a tough fighter when provoked

Owner:
belongs to the barn
Other:
nope

(going to finish soon just having a bit of a writers block for some of it)
