As the old, sunbleached road winds on ahead, the first sign of the glistening Pacific Ocean comes into view. The thick canopy of trees start to thin, then some pale rooftops reach your sight. Welcome to Shoreline, Northern California.... you think with a sigh. To liven the mood, you start to fiddle with the car's ancient radio. After a few moments of pure static, a country station rings through the vehicle. You try to recall the familiar tune as the chorus runs.
"There's a wild, wild whisper
Blowin' in the wind,
Callin' out my name,
Like a long lost friend.
Oh, I miss those days,
As the years go by.
Oh, nothin' sweeter than summertime,
And American honey."
The name of the song suddenly flashes in your mind. After a long moment of listening to the tune, bright sunlight filters into the car. You shake your head and go back to your thoughts as the sandy beach flies by. Many people were out by the water, most looking your age. They looked happy. Well, most of them, anyways. You look forward again and spot your home for the time being. Summer in Shoreline..... Now that's an idea I'll have to get used to, you think as you step out of the old car.

Another year in good 'ol Shoreline. This summer is going to be the best one yet...... or the worst. No matter, you get to spend it with good friends, new and old. Though the town is small, there is always something to do. You think about your friends, the beach, the boardwalk, anything! But, you make a promise to yourself: Never change for anybody. Stay true to yourself. Maybe you'll follow the promise. Maybe you won't. But the only thing you really want right now is a sundae from Markson's. Standing and grabbing your shoes, you are once again struck with the one thought that has been plauging your mind since that final school bell sounded: It's summertime!

Yep. This summer is going to blow. Well, maybe at first it was. Who knows how it's going to turn out? All you know is that you're going to be going to visit a relative. For the whole summer. When your parents said that you were going to California for the summer, automaticly you were excited. Yes! Celebrities, shopping, beaches, fabulous looking people! This is the best! was the first thing you thought. But right as you were at peak excitement while you packed for your trip, your parents correct you. You're going to Northern California. "Oh, you'll love it!" they had said. Oh, sure. Well, at least you got one thing right: there's a beach. But the town of Shoreline has a population of, like, 100, or something like that. Now, as you're driving with your relative to your house for the summer, a thought passes through your head: What am I going to do in this God forsaken town for a whole summer?! I don't know anybody here! Then, your relative points out a few kids at the beach. They give you each of their names and suggests that you should introduce yourself. Maybe.... you think as you pull up into the driveway of the house.
