This was probably Scarlett's 4th summer with her aunt. Her oldest brother had just left home for college, he only had to live in this situation for 3 year, lucky him. Scarlett was sitting on the porch, hugging her knees so they were under her chin as she basked in the warm sun. Her memories were all about her mother. She knew it was bad that she couldn't stop thinking about her mom, it was terrible, and it had happened four years ago. They had just moved here, she was new to the town. Her aunt thought that if they moved out of their old town, her memories would soon disappear as well. They didn't, they were even more alive now that she was far away. Everything was taken from her, her mother was dead, her father was in jail, her oldest brother now in college, and her aunt taking her other brother to the hospital every other week. It was normal really, she had been used to this for the last few weeks. She would need to get used to it.

Her aunt came out, dark circles around her eyes, and hugging a pink silk night gown around her. She must have just woke up, poor tired thing. She was killing this women practically. She hated that. Her aunt sat down next to her on the swing porch chair, and it was quiet for a few minutes. Neither one of them attempted conversation. What was there to talk about? Scarlett stared across at the small woods across from her house, her focus everywhere. Finally, her aunt tried to get through to her. "I know you aren't happy about moving, but-"

"If you haven't noticed, I haven't been happy about a lot of things," she snapped, cutting her aunt off. Her aunt must have understood,or else she knew there would be a yelling coming towards her. She didn't look to her aunt, she didn't listen to her blasting of music coming from her brother's bedroom. He would need to go back to the hospital soon... She had no idea how he had lived so long, or how much better he would get. She couldn't watch another family member be stripped from her. She hated that everything was happening to her family, she hated how her mother was killed, how her brother had cancer, and how her older brother was starting a life of his own. She was the only one left to live in the past and keep the memories going. She was the only one.

"I know sweetie, trust me I know," her aunt said in a kind soft voice. She was trying, Scar would give her that. She knew that she would need to give this lady a break, she did get stuck with having to raise this thing. "I think it would be good if you went out, took a walk, maybe met some new people..." You trying to get me to replace more people, she thought to herself. But of course she didn't say that, she couldn't. It wouldn't help anyone. She took a deep breath and nodded. Sitting there for a few minutes more, she prepared herself to step out of her comfort zone and into the hot sun. She finally did stand now, and walked off the porch. She started walking down the block, her pace rather slow as she started at the ground as she walked. She had no idea where she was going, but she just hoped it would be away from her life.

kimberly sat in a tree outside the hotel. She hugged her knees. It was time for another one of her fathers drunked beatings. Every night he would come home and yell and hit. She tried her best and told her she loved him but she just guessed he didn't hear her because he yelled more. She grabbed her favorite teddy bear. It was missing an eye but it was better that way. She apoligized and did her best she even made her bed. But no matter what he would come home and yell and he would hit her and her mtoher really hard. She tried to act like it didn't hurt but it really did. She stared down at the brown fuzzball she cradled. The only thing she had to talk to. The only thing that wouldn't hurt her. Couldn't even talk back, or laugh at her jokes. The thing she held dear and close, Couldn't even love.

Amber stood up and stretched seeing a girl walk down the road. She smiled finally someone new. She waved her hand in a hello. As her slump brother stepped out his hair wet. He just woke up? she thought
