Little Grove Ranch-OPEN AND ACCEPTING

Sophie's eyes darted around. She let out a shrill whistle. The wolf froze, fixing it's eyes on her and advanced.

Devon covered his ears. "Oww. That hurt." He complained. "What are you doing?"

The wolf lunged but before it could reach them two black and white blurrs exploded from the trees. It was Mia's dog, Emma and Sophie's own dog, Nanook. The two dogs put themselves between Sophie and Devon and the wolf, growling threateningly.

Devon's jaw dropped. "How many dogs do you people have here??" He turned to her.

"Emma belongs to Mia..." Sophie said. The wolf looked between the two dogs, ears flat, body stiff. He growled, then turned and disappeared. Nanook and Emma trotted over to Sophie and Devon, tails wagging.

Dev relaxed somewhat. He petted one of the dogs(Nanook), and looked at it. "Oh. Okay."

Nanook growled softly at Devon and bared his teeth. Sophie tried unsuccessfully to hide a grin.

Dev dropped his hand from the dog.

Nanook relaxed and trotted around Sophie, tail wagging. Sophie smiled, her pale green eyes lighting up like they only ever did with Nanook and she scratched him behind one ear.

Ben frowned. "I'm not afraid of bears." He said.

Eric glanced back. "Bree? What are you doing here?"

Sophie gave him a small smile as she swung onto Dark Angel. "Yeah. I don't lie." She grabbed the rope around Dusty's neck and pushed her mare into a gentle trot. She led the way out of the corral with Dusty trotting behind, heading for the distant trees.

Nikki walked back to the barn
