((I thought that too....but deaf is a good one too...and argh....))

Blaine gripped at Kurt's shirt, sobbing. "But wh-what if he is? I don't wanna- wanna lose him, Kurt..." He gulped, each word more shaky than the one before.

The woman at the information desk picked up a remote and switched to another news channel, which was just getting the story, "A plane crash near Lima, Ohio has left fifty-four dead and five severely injured. The survivors are all in critical condition, and the medical team is not yet sure whether any of them will make it." the newscasted said, his tone grim. A picture appeared just to the right of his head; a twisted chunk of metal. A dreadful parody of the crashed plane. Reed continue to sob quietly, another two had died. The chances of Shane's survival were getting slimmer.

WHEEEOOOOOWEEEEOOOO. The ambulance rushed to the hospital at an insane speed, the boy inside fading quickly. (Yeah blind is much better now that I think about it) The large shard of shrapnel had to be removed from his head quickly, or else his brain would quickly cease to function. The paramedics pushed the gurney inside the hospital, rushing to the emergency operating room. "What's his status?" asked the doctor, prepping himself for the surgery. "Irregular heartbeat, several fractured and broken limbs, and the shrapnel has most likely impared his vision, as it cuts just above his eyebrow line. The metal has been assumed to has cut the retnal cords, and the explosion has probably detered his hearing as well. Unidentified. The shrapnel has to go first." the paramedic breathed, stopping the gurney in the surgery room, next to an anesthetic tank. Although the boy was unconcious, the possibility of him awaking during the procedure was too great to risk. The doctors closed the doors and began to remove the large shard of metal from the boy's skull.

((He gets to the hospital when the surgery is over, and they direct him to the one unidentified survivor. He comes in to Shane, and sees his blank, unseeing eyes?))

((I'll make it quick, I'm so not going into the details.))

The doctors had removed the shrapnel from the boy's skull, opening the gash they revealed that indeed, his vision had been impaired. His wound was quickly sealed, and the blood and debris was washed from his ears and body. He was checked for broken bones, and surprisingly, had none. "You're extremely lucky to be alive," Said a nurse as she wheeled in the unconscious boy to a hospital room. Hooking him up to the heart rate monitor and an oxygen tank, she smiled and walked to the door, someone was sure to claim this nameless boy.

Reed slouched in the waiting room. He had come to the hospital, fully expecting to have to identify a body. One of the nurses walked out through the doors, looking tired. "Hon, you're here to help us identify one of the survivors, right?" she asked, looking at a clipboard and flipping the page, "Dark hair, over six feet tall, thin, around sixteen?" Reed started and got to his feet too quickly, stumbling over a cord. "Suur- survivor? Is he okay? Can you take me to him?" The nurse nodded and led him to one of the familiar, disturbingly white hospital room, where a young man with dark hair was laying. "Oh my god. That's him. That's Shane." he whispered.
