Great job Wren. Now you really upset her. Hw thought to himself in irritation, but found himself unable to say anything as she left, afraid it would end in a yelp of pain. With a groan, he forced himself to sit up, perhaps a very bad mistake. Keeping himself from turning green, he refused to let gravity kick in, amazed he was that weak, however justified it might have been.

( Yeah, I understand. Characters with little to no emotion are fun, but they can also carry challenges when emotion is called upon.

Juliana hated the fact she had let her emotions take over her. Now, her wounds hurt and she was starting to wander to nowhere. The loss that she had experienced was not like many others, her's might have been less tragic or less horrifying, but to her all loss was equal. She had lost so many in the blink of an eye and in that blink, her world crumbled, lieterally. The life she had once known was quickly fading from her eyes.

Gabriel jumped at Wren’s scream of pain and the music came to a dissonant halt. Feeling helpless he watched Juliana rush to the boys side. He felt a pang of guilt for giving Wren the antibiotics. Had he condemed the boy to a painful death? Gabriel almost paniced when Aeneas and Juliana left. What was he supposed to do now? He took a brief look to where his sister had been playing a second ago. Lisa just stood stone still on a pile of rubble looking at the camp wide eyed.
Get a grip d****t! Gabriel chided himself and took a deep breath. „Ach, verd***t!“ he muttered and got up to move to Wren’s side. Just in time to push him down gently. „Don’t strain yourself. You look like s**t.“ There was a bottle of water next to the boy. Gabriel took it. „Here, try to drink something. You’re probably dehydrated.“ He attempted to help Wren to drink some. „I saw some wrecked cars yesterday. Maybe I can find a first aid kit in one of them. We have to keep your leg wound clean.“ Gabriel murmured not sure if Wren was able to hear him.
„Hang in there. Lisa will stay with you. You won’t be alone. Ain’t that right, Lisa?“ Gabriel stood up to look at his sister who had joined them.
Still wide eyed she looked from her brother to the strange boy on the ground and back again. Gabriel summed up what he intended to do to his sister in German. While he picked up his bagpack and iron rod Gabriel felt uneasy about leaving his sister behind but it would be faster that way.
*You can do it.* her brother said touching her shoulder. Lisa watched him turn an leaving her alone with a stranger. Tears welled up in her eyes but she risced a second glance at the boy. She had to admit to herself that he didn’t look very threatening at all but rather pityfully. Lisa crouched down with her violin case next to Wren waiting for her brother to return.

Juliana walked slowly through the rubble. The tears had stopped, but the pain did not leave. Why had this world taken away the ones she loved? Of course she loved Aeneas, and she still had him, but at the moment her mind didn't seem to remember anything besides the death and destruction that followed the nuke. Her family ripped apart and slowly dying, one by one. Their graves littered their path, their blood stained their camps, they could not rid themselves of their memory, of their death. Juliana stared up at the sky and let out a heart wrenching, pained scream. Every emotion she had kept inside for so long came bubbling out at once, in that scream. Hot tears streamed from her blue eyes as she fell to her knees, slowly, almost in slow motion. A sob caught in her throat and she hiccuped. "Why?!?! Why did you take them away from me?!?!" She cried out, sobbing. She couldn't stand this anymore! There was death everywhere! No matter where you turned it met you as soon as you thought you clear from it's gaze. There was no way to escape it, they were all going to die, weren't they? Her positive attitude disappeared in that moment. She was changing now. The pain and fear were getting to her, and she couldn't handle it much longer. She was fading into the black, fading, fading, fading, to never be found again. This life was losing it's perks, it's reasons for being here. Juliana was losing the will to live, to survive.

Gabriel felt quiet satisfied with himself. The fourth car wreck had hold a first aid kit that wasn’t mostly burned and spoiled. It had been very unpleasant to get around it’s previous owner or rather what had been left of him. As a result of his search he looked even dirtier and more disheveled then before and his hands were covered with minor cuts. But he didn’t mind because as a bonus he had found some canned food too. Now on his way back to camp he kept his eyes open for something to use as a pot. But instead he got distracted by a crouching figure not to far away. His heart skipped a beat at the prospect of a possible dangerous stranger. It only took a few more seconds for him to recognize the figure as Juliana. He wondered what the girl was up to and decided to have a short look. When she didn’t react to the sound of him approaching Gabriel started to worry.
„Uhm, Juliana? What’s the matter? Did something happen to you? Are you hurt?“ Gabriel reached tentatively for her shoulder but stopped half way when he got a first look at her face. It was full of anguish, her eyes tear swollen. The expression Juliana wore was gut wrenching similar to Lisa’s a couple of days ago when that terrible incident had happened. Gabriel clenched his fists scanning their surroundings frantically.
Where was that vile creature? This time he would definitely not stop before ... No, that wasn’t right. Because Gabriel hadn’t stopped that time. He shook his head to clear his thoughts.
Without hesitating again Gabriel kneeled beside the girl and touched her shoulder gently. He addressed her with a soft voice: „Juliana? What’s wrong? Please talk to me.“
Gabriel felt more then a bit awkward and wished for Aeneas to be here. He also felt the urge to get back to camp.

Juliana heard no footsteps approaching, nor any words, all she heard was her heart's lonely beating. She stared up at the sky and wondered why no tears fell from her eyes. The pain was so great, she was so weak inside. A hand touched her shoulder and Juliana jumped slightly, surprised. Her head reluctantly turned from the sky and her gaze found Gabriel's. At first, confusion showed in her eye but it soon ashamed. "I-I apologize if I made you worried. I left so no one would see." She looked away, clearly showing she hated showing her pain and sorrow.

Wren forced himself to sit up again, against common sense once more, glancing around in fright. With the only person left in the clearing being Gabriel's sister, who he didn't recall the name of and doubted he had ever heard it, he felt a grip of fear hit him once again. Was something going on out there that he wasn't aware of? His hearing was oddly blurred, he had missed whatever the boy had said, and now feared that there was some danger just out of his sight. Turning quickly to face the girl, he asked hurriedly what was happening. Then he realized he didn't even know if she spoke english, or if her state-of-mind would let her respond.

(Still WB, curse Wren and emotion!(lol) But this is the sort of thing I need to learn how to write. )
