"Vancouver's like a lot of places, I reckon, but I like it well enough. Maybe I’m biased because I’ve lived there almost as long as I can remember though," Kaz acknowledged. A tiny smile graced his face at the compliment. He hadn’t been expecting anything of the sort, and it was more than welcome. "Thanks! Yeah, it’s not a particularly common name, I think that might be part of why my folks chose it." At the following commentary regarding mountains and views, he just shrugged.
"I mean, you do get a view, but the mountains are a pretty long ways away. At least a full day or two of travel. Never seen them up close myself, unfortunately. I work as a mechanic, and that’s a full-time job to say the least." Kaz would’ve loved to explore, but life certainly kept him busy. "Cook? Sometimes, though I’m not the best at it. And I think there was a kitchen somewhere on the second floor, but don’t quote me on that." Twice, Kaz's cooking attempts ended up involving a smoke alarm and the firefighters, but that had been as a young teen. He’d improved considerably since then, and could do basic things. It was better than nothing.
"Dude, I’m MORE than capable of managing a suitcase and a backpack. Just offering to help is all." Kaz shrugged. If they wished to be left alone, they needed only say so, but otherwise, these two seemed friendly enough, he wouldn’t mind spending a few more minutes with them before seeing what needed doing, and settling in properly.
