He looked up sharply when he heard the door opening, automatically holding his sketchbook to his chest, and then freezing, looking like a deer caught in headlights. Only he didn't have anywhere to run off to. So this was his new roommate. He had not been mentally prepared for this moment, and it felt far too soon. At least she didn't seem to be the talkative type.
Xavier stared for a few more moments, hesitant, before he finally spoke, his voice quiet and gentle. "Xavier." He inteoduced himself, and left it at that. He did not think that there was anything else that needed to be said. Slowly, he returned to his sketchbook, putting his focus on that and his drawing.

"Huh?! Oh, thanks..!" Jessica was once again caught off guard when he complimented her cooking. "I put flour, sugar, baking powder, really what's put in a normal pancake, but I add almond milk. I have a list of ingredients in the fridge if you really want to know. When I become 14 in a few days, I plan on perfecting my recipe. That'll be when my pancakes are good." She smiled. Jessica's face was burning, but to try and make sure that nobody saw, she decided to put Orange down so that her face was below the counter. She then grabbed a few pancakes herself, trying to figure out how to perfect her recipe for her food. She then noticed that she looked young for her age of almost 14, and she probably had to start wearing makeup and stuff to look more 'adult like' (I might change her picture when she turns 14 aaa). Jess sighed and contemplated both her pancakes and her look.

"I get that." She said, agreeing with him about the rules. She shrugged. "I normally stay out here for a while, so I guess I'm used to being cold. I definitely prefer being cold, than even being the slightest bit warm." She said. She stopped because she felt like she was talking too much. "Are you going in?" She asked, watching a few cars pass by.

Max's stomach growled, and he decided he should get something to eat. He walked downstairs to the kitchen. He pushed open the door, and the smell of pancakes hit him. He saw them sitting on the counter, and immediately walked over to them. "Ooh pancakes." He said, grabbing one off the stack, and looking out the small window in the kitchen. The cops were still there. "Are they going to stay there forever?!" He asked, just a little frusterated. I guess that's what happenes when you shoplift. He thought to himself.

Marcus and Maya

Maya gave Xavier a small smile, then went and began unpacking her things. Errol squeaked in his crate and Maya shushed him quickly, not wanting to get caught with a pet when out was against the rules. Of course, the little hedgehog didn't listen to reason and simply s squeaked louder, until Maya was sure that at least Xavier heard him, unless he was too concentrated on his drawing. She looked up, hoping that he hadn't heard.

Marcus paused in his eating for a moment when Jessica said she was "almost fourteen." "Wait, so you're thirteen years old?" he asked, slightly incredulous. "Where did you learn to cook?" he asked, another forkful of pancake going into his mouth. He looked up at Max. "Dude, these pancakes are awesome. You've gotta try them." He glanced out the window to see who he was talking about, but from where he was sitting, he couldn't see anything. He shrugged and went back to eating.

As he drew, Xavier glanced up when he first heard a quiet squeaking sound. However, he did dismiss it as it being just his imagination, and he went back to drawing. But then the squeaking got louder, and was apparent that it was definitely not his imagination. He looked up again, and saw Maya looking at him, and she seemed to be guilty. He blinked a couple of times at her, then asked, quietly, "What is that?" Because he figured that there was no point in trying to pretend that he couldn't hear anything. And... well, he didn't want there to be anything that could potentially get him into trouble if it was in his room, even if he had nothing to do with it.

"Yep." Jessie nodded. "I'm mostly self taught, as my parents weren't usually around. My dad was always off stealing and my mom worked until late, so I made my own food for the most part. When dinner came around, my dad would come back and watch me cook, since he was too lazy to." She smiled. She wasn't proud of her father, but she was happy that he helped her develop a few skills by being so lazy and horrible. Jessie usually learnt from her father's shortcomings in life, and tried to defy them. She took up the role of things her mother would do if she didn't work, things like the dishes and cleaning; things that would keep the house running.

Jess heard Max saying something about people outside, so she went to look. She then saw a car. 'The Police,' She thought begrudgingly. Jessie knew the Police all too well. She was grateful and vengeful towards them. Just like with her father. Why the Police were there was beyond her knowledge, so she signed and said, "Oh. The Police. Huh."

Max's eyes widened when Jess mentioned her dad stealing. Sounds like me... He thought to himself. He stood there trying not to look guilty when Jessie saw the cops. Max didn't plan on telling anyone that he stole a lot. Why should he? So they wouldn't trust him? Well, to be honest, they probably shouldn't...

Maya winced. "Ah... I... I sneezed?" she said unconvincingly. She knew it was wrong to have her pet, but what was she supposed to do, leave him? The was no way she could do that. Besides, Marcus would never let her leave Errol behind. "Excuse me..." she added lamely. Plus, if her roommate has no idea, there was no way he could get in trouble if she were caught.

Marcus stopped eating, the pancakes turning to sawdust in his mouth. He looked at Jessica. "That's awful," he said. "Doesn't that make you upset or something? If all my dad did was laze around all day and do illegal stuff, I'd be furious."

Myla Littman - 17 - Female - Straight - Location: Her room - Tags: Open

Myla smiled at the young girl as she told her about the pancakes that she had made herself. She considered getting some, but she really needed to put these bags down. She sighed and headed towards the front desk, looking back wistfully at the kitchen. She stepped up to the front desk and asked the woman sitting there where her sister's room and her own room were. The lady smiled and handed her a sheet of paper stating everybody's room and who they were with. Iris was with some guy named Ashton and Myla herself was with a girl named Jessica. She handed the paper back the the woman and headed towards her sister's room. When she got there, she peeked inside and saw that the room was empty. She set Iris's stuff on one of the beds and left. When she got to her own assigned room, she looked around the sparsely furnished area and saw that there was nobody there either. She shrugged to herself and chose the bed closer to the window. She set down her bags, and as soon as she set down her purse, her ferret, who had been sleeping inside, began to squirm around and crawled out with a sleepy looks in his eyes. Myla laughed and picked him up. He snuggled into her and promptly fell asleep. She laughed again and placed on him the bed before emptying one of her suitcases and lining the bottom with a fluffy blanket she found in the closet. She then placed Oreo in it, but left it open before sliding it under the bed, which was at just the right height that she could slide the suitcase under it without it even touching the bed, but it was still hidden. Myla then left the room, but not before making sure Oreo was still fast asleep and shutting the door firmly behind herself so he wouldn't get out when he did wake up. She was going to get pancakes, but she didn't feel like being around her sister, who was still mad at her for getting them into this mess, so she decided to just sit out on the front porch in the rain.

Iris Littman - 11 - Female - Straight - Location: Kitchen - Tags: Open
Iris looked up as a girl who looked to be around the same age as her walked over to her and her sister, who had finally gotten all of their luggage out of the rain. The girl said something about pancakes, and Iris's stomach growled. She was hungry anyways, so it would be stupid not to get some. So she left her sister behind with all of the bags again and grabbed a plate, piling it high with pancakes. She then drowned her stack in syrup and grabbed a fork and knife to cut them with. After she sat down, Iris began to study the people in the room. Most people were eating pancakes or just sitting around awkwardly. She devoured her pancakes, and was kind of surprised at how good they were. She hadn't expected the food at a foster home to be so good. She finished her pancakes and decided to try and talk to somebody, as she didn't want to die of boredom. She looked around and was going to talk to the girl who had made the pancakes, but she was already engaged in a conversation. The rest of the people were already talking with somebody, or if they weren't, she figured that they probably didn't want to talk, or they would be already. She sat back in her chair, bored and just a tiny bit dejected. Although she didn't really see the point in making friends, she had hoped to make at least one, so that she would have someone to talk to while she was here.

"Sometimes, but for the most part, no. I always tried to learn from his mistakes; He was hot headed and lazy, so trying to defy him made me a different person than I would've turned out to be otherwise," Jessica admitted. She liked looking at the bright side of things when she could, so it wasn't hard for her to do such things. She than took notice of the girl that she had previously approached. "Oh, hi again. How's the food?" Jessie smiled. Orange was looking up at Jess with sad eyes trying to get her to drop a piece of her pancake for him. "No, silly!" She looked down and laughed at him.
