Haze fought back an incredulous laugh at the obvious stiffening of the girl's posture and her stumbling attempt at deception. Perhaps the account she received of the ruthless gang was exaggerated. If so, it was most likely for no reason other than the vindictive thrill of sending her off on a wild goose chase. Distracting his competitor was an added bonus. A low, shockingly filthy string of curses were muttered under her breath as Haze glared at the wall. She was going to track down Tony's location and slowly gouge his eyes out.
Momentarily distracted by her dark thoughts, the pale-haired woman stiffened imperceptibly as the Mamba moved her arm. Well, hidden depths indeed. She hadn't been expecting such a sweet-faced little thing to threaten her, especially not after such a stumbling display of terrible lying skills. Maybe her day would be a interesting after all.
Eyes narrowing, Haze let a hint of a smirk into her expression as she threw herself into a sliding roll. Her pale hair whipped out of the abysmal and clearly rushed attempt at a low bun, but she paid it no heed. Letting her shoulders hit the ground, she let momentum carry her back onto her feet significantly closer to where the girl stood. Haze twisted so that her body was constantly in motion and the worst possible target, simultaneously reaching for one of her throwing knives concealed in her wide leather belt. With an expert snap of her wrist, she sent a gleaming silver blade flying towards the girl's face.
She had aimed it just off, of course. A warning shot, one that sailed past the Mamba's ear with enough precision to convince the girl that she wasn't some amateur lobbing knives around. Haze had another knife in her hand instantly, leveled straight at the girl's face. Of course, she could have been bluffing this entire time, but it was better to be prepared. Besides, Haze was just spoiling for a good fight, and this was the closest she could get to one without actually pulling a gun on the girl and alerting the entire street to her presence.
"No need to lie to me, sister. I'm not looking for trouble." Haze said mildly, nodding at the hand tucked inside the jacket pocket. "A friend of mine told me to find you guys. Well, he won't be a friend very much longer if he sent me on a wild goose chase, but that's besides the point. Said he'd done business with your gang before, patching people up after a fight. I can guarantee that I'm better at extracting bullets than that thick-skulled brute, so when he told me you guys were looking for a medic, I decided that I would spare you from having his incompetent hands attending your members." Haze laughed, but there was a hard, glittering edge to it that promised bloodshed if she had been played.

On silent feet, Adli walked down the halls of the hotel and down the stairwell. Her hand kept fiddling with the handgun in the pocket of her grey hoodie, a nervous habit. Idly, she wondered at how comfortable she had become with the weapon when a few months ago she would have run in the opposite direction at a glimpse of the black barrel. The nightmare lingered at the edge of her thoughts, an uneasy presence that made her movements sharper than usual. Softly, the young girl sang snatches of random songs to herself. They soothed her mind, even if the noise was a risk that might have drawn attention to her.
Stopping at a random level, Adli leaned against the concrete railing. A worn combat boot toed at some small, fading graffiti on one of the steps. Perhaps some enthusiastically loyal Lion had painted it in a burst of patriotism. The humming stopped as she let silence fall again. She had yet to get used to the idea that a gang basically owned her now. That she was bought by the comforts of security and a place to sleep at night. Was she obligated in some way to perform duties for them now?
Struck by how little she understood about her ever-changing situations, Adli pulled up her hood and reached for the door. Best to ask someone about what was expected of her before unwittingly offending the gang. She could imagine that the Lions were not the best enemy to have, despite their generosity with a nervous, flighty girl. Still, it took a moment of gathering her courage before she could set off in search of someone to teach her a bit more about the world she had stuck herself into.
