- xxxxxadmittedly, the boy had always assumed that people like jake had dated a lot of people; whether the relationships were healthy or not he didn't care. or, he hadn't at the time that he'd seen them take place. to be honest, reuben had never really noticed the sixteen year old around until he thought about it. they had at least most of their classes together, if not all of them, and he still couldn't recall a time where his 'not-very-acquaintance' had sat alone; this didn't particularly mean he was dating someone who was near him, but he did recollect, in the past month of school, seeing him with at least two people who seemed like they could've been...possibly more than friends.
xxxxxraising an eyebrow in mock interest, he sheepishly offered a grin. it wasn't like him to warm up to people easily. actually, it wasn't like him to warm up to most people easily. his earliest friend was easy, obviously, because they were in preschool. and one friend who he'd met in third grade -- that was easy, since they had been so approachable. making friends was trivial to reuben, even though he'd like some. letting his gaze trail back over jake's physical characteristics, it'd eventually fall on his face. "i already knew that," he murmured, somewhat smugly. "i think you know my name, too. based on that awful nickname."
xxxxxwatching the fellow sophomore's expression, he bit his lip softly. "well i mean, that was a sort of stupid question, but..." he trailed off, a jokingly playful tone lining his voice. at first, he was serious with the whole 'i don't want to be friends with anyone, especially not you' attitude, but now it was kind of failing. "i guess it's cool. i wanna go back to norway one day, though. how about you?" letting his cheek rest on his hand, he'd brush his hair back with the opposite hand but continue to stare in attempt to convey the point that he was interested in the conversation.
