Plot

In 2008, a class of seniors that attended Rosewood High School, located in the north of the state of Nebraska, graduated. All of them split off to pursue their own paths and careers - at least, that's the intention. Now, it is 2018 - ten years later - and the 10-year reunion is approaching. To mark the occasion, the Rosewood principal and school council has decided to organise - as they do with all of their ten year reunions - a two-week stay at a summer camp site for the graduates, all expenses - including travel - paid. For the school, this is no large feat, for Rosewood is known to (fortunately) receive large amounts of funding, and able to afford the copious spending.

During the two weeks, a loose schedule has been set, which can be followed, if desired, but otherwise, it is mostly a free-for-all. And, aside from the necessary camp staff to ensure that no one drowns in the large lake, or that no one ends up hurting themselves (because no one said all the adults will behave just like adults, and there may be some children attending as well), the former Rosewood students will be essentially on their own. It seems like most everyone has changed in some way, and friendships (and enemyships) will be rekindled, and so might some former flames...

Though the entire class of '08 was invited, this roleplay will involve 12 specific characters. Their roles are below. You are allowed to have up to 2 characters. PM me to reserve, and post character forms in the discussion thread.

You might be able to play as someone's partner, but only if that role is filled, and the user filling that role states that their character is in a relationship, AND you ask both the user and myself.

The Characters (2/12 open)

- The Famous - this person was mediocre back in high school with little notability. If you were to ask someone in their graduating class what they were like, then they will most likely struggle to come up with something much more than just being able to recognise them. But a few years after graduating, they rose to fame as a musician, and not many days go by when they are not recognised by someone in the streets. They have fans all over the world, and - perhaps concerningly - they've had to be very careful to not give away where they'll be going for the two weeks. Fame, as it turns out, isn't all that great as people might perceive it to be. - Selene Vivas|28|Cisfemale|She/Her|Bisexual|.andromeda.

- The Phoenix - this person was incredibly popular back in high school. Everyone in the class knew their name, and knew just what kind of person they were. The others either loved or hated them, but either way, they definitely had some sort of opinion on them. They dominated the top spot for their sport, and had colleges vying for their attention. But after college - where they discovered their popularity didn't entirely translate - they burnt out and crashed. It took them a couple of years after that, but now they've started to rebuild their life. - The Teacher - they always seemed like a closed off and grumpy person in high school, rarely letting anyone get close to them - both physically and emotionally. Those few that did get to know them properly knew that it wasn't necessarily the entire case, but even they would be surprised to learn what this person ended up doing. Now, they are an elementary school teacher, and they love their job. Sure, there's always the low points such as demanding parents and working on a budget, but there's always daily moments and times that make it all worth it. And, as it turns out, they are really quite the fantastic teacher. - Natalia Cortez|28|Cisfemale|She/Her|Pansexual|. birdy .

- The Traveller - this person was known to be very energetic while in high school, and often stated that they would much rather be travelling than stuck in school. So, perhaps it's to no one's surprise that just a week after graduation, they immediately set off to travel the world. They did keep in contact for the first few months, but... well, that dropped off. It might have been ten years, but they're not done travelling and trying out something new yet. It helps that their family is, no doubt, a very wealthy one. It's almost a surprise that they've agreed to attend the reunion, and it definitely seems as though they're not about to settle down just yet. - Sicily Belmonte|28|Cisfemale|She/Her|Pansexual|.andromeda.

- The Drop-Out - they graduated high school, of course, with a fairly average GPA - nothing to write home about - and then set off to attend college to start the track to the career that they wanted. Then, two years into college, things didn't go as they would have originally thought. Deciding to drop out because of a change of heart for their career, they chose to pursue a different dream. They're also not ashamed to admit their decision to anyone that asks, since there's nothing wrong with changing your mind about what you want to do. But is it something they regret doing? Maybe. - The Single Parent - they had big dreams to get famous and work hard right from graduating. But not long afterwards, they ended up having a kid with the person they thought would be their life partner (not any of the characters in this roleplay). But a couple of years later, their partner dumped them, forcing them to raise their child alone. Having to put their original career dreams and goals on hold, it hasn't stopped them from trying their very best to be a great parent and make something of themselves. Certainly nothing that they planned on, but they figured that they've adapted well - and are ready to kick their ex's butt. - River Falston|29|Cismale|He/Him/His|Bisexual|. birdy .

- The Unfortunate - they graduated with excellent grades, and went to college, with full intentions of making a great career and earning plenty of money. But while things started working in their favour, it wasn't long before things took a downturn. First, they got fired from their first job after a year, and has been struggling to keep one down for more than six months, recently got dumped by their partner of two years, and is on the brink of being kicked out of their apartment. It's a miracle that they're able and willing to attend the reunion, they claim. But is it really entirely the fault of the universe? - The Perfectionist - they were known to be meticulous and definitely quite the perfectionist in high school. Definitely the sort of person that you could go to if you lost something that you frequently lost, for they would be sure to have some sort of idea as to where it might be. However, while highly critical of themselves, they are known to be more lenient towards other people. They also graduated college, and have a decent career ahead of themselves - although they do strive to make it big and become famous in their field. The one person that helps them loosen up happens to be The Surprising, as they, in turn, help them. - Chester McKinley|28|Cismale|He/Him/His|Homosexual|Consulting_Angel

- The Surprising - they were a hardcore rebel in high school, and was responsible for around 90% of the protests that got organised and taken to the streets to protest against inequality and other social issues, and were known to get themselves into physical fights against students (not without reason, though). They also almost got themselves expelled from Rosewood, but somehow managed to remain a student there. After graduation, they disappeared on almost everybody, with one exception. Turns out that they've cleaned up their act (for the most part), and they now work with animals and troubled kids. - The Valedictorian- the absolute dream kid that any parent could hope to have. Popular for good reason and well-liked by the student body, they set their sights on a career quite early on and have been working hard towards it. And for them, it has paid off extremely well. They became the valedictorian of both their high school and college classes, and their career as a surgeon has taken off fantastically - it certainly helps that they have a wonderfully supportive fiance and a strong work ethic since they were young. In fact, they very nearly turned the invitation to the reunion down because they didn't want to leave work. - The Company-Starter - they were often the innovative dreamer in high school, and were definitely that kid who sold all kinds of snacks to other students, making them well-known with the other students. After graduating, they hatched an idea in their mind for a new fashion company that provides clothing with actual pockets for women, inclusive size range, and more innovative ideas, which has gradually grown into a nationally-known brand. Though they own the company and love it, with no prior experience to owning a company, are they struggling with the growing brand more than they are letting on? - Chere Mesquita|29|Agender|They/Them|Androsexual|balenciaga

- The Partier - they were known as the party animal in high school, hosting a party any time their parents had to leave for more than a couple of days (which was at least twice a month), and they even carried the title with them to college. Now, though, it seems that they're trying to relive those days every weekend after taking on a boring office job. They even still go to the clubs they went to in college. They don't have stable relationships with family and former friends, and behind the scenes, their life is falling apart. At this point, they're just trying to ignore it, rather than face it and make changes - and this reunion is their latest excuse to ignore it. - Mavis Rosseau|28|Cisfemale|She/Her|Bisexual|carotid

Rules
- No Mary Sues/Gary Stus/God modding.
- As per usual, all of Tess' rules apply (it should go without saying, but there's always someone...)
- PM me to reserve - they last for 24 hours, though you may request an extension. Otherwise, it's first-come, first-served (if a complete character form is posted...).
- Please only join if you're going to actually be active and not forget about the roleplay after joining.
- Roleplay post lengths must be 5-6 sentences, at the least. No one- or two-liners.
- Characters must be 28-29 years, and have a reasonable occupation according to their role description - some characters already have a set occupation, but you can decide on specifics (so the type of musician The Famous is, or the type of surgeon The Valedictorian is, for example).
- Your character must fit in with the role description - example: The Valedictorian isn't going to be cold and unfriendly, or The Partier won't be the most reasonable person. Of course, your own interpretation of the character is fine, but don't make them completely different to how they've been described.
- Please have diversity with your characters, including ethnicity, sexuality, body types, and gender. Let's not have everyone cishet, skinny, white and blonde.

Cabins
These cabins have four bedrooms - with double beds - a bathroom, a mini-kitchen and a living area. They're a little bigger than they may seem at first.

Dining Hall
All meals will be served here, all freshly cooked, and in buffet-style. Breakfast - 7:00-8:30. Lunch: 12:00-14:00. Dinner: 17:30-19:00.

Forest
The forest has got a clearly marked path on the ground, and is signposted, along with rope fencing to prevent anyone from straying off-path and disturbing the wildlife. The path leads to a huge clearing with a lake, and is a 20-minute walk.

Camp Activities
The campsite has a variety of other facilities and things to do, including:
- A tennis court.
- An indoor dance studio, with a sound system and half-retractable roof.
- Rowing boats at the lake - supervised by a worker.
- A large recreation room, with sofas, a TV, DVD player, and a shelf of books.
- An outdoor stage with seating.

- There is also a shuttle bus that will be taking everyone that wishes to go, down to the beach, which is a half-hour drive away, on Saturdays, leaving at 11:00, and returning for 17:30.
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings will all have a quiz night from 19:00-20:00, in the recreation room.
- On Thursdays, there's another shuttle bus that will take anyone who wishes to down to the horse ranch that is 20 minutes drive away, for an hour's riding lesson, and a half-hour trail ride. This leaves the camp at 12:00, and returns for 15:00, but this must be signed up for before the previous Wednesday's evening at 19:00, and appropriate clothing must be worn.
- There will be a campfire on Sunday nights, from 20:00-22:00.

We'll now begin! Characters should either be arriving, or have already arrived. There are a few camp workers at the reception building (just inside of the site, after the parking lot), to give out cabin keys and to direct everyone to the cabins - and to help carry luggage, if need be.

Chester sang along to whatever was playing on the radio - not necessarily the correct lyrics, but still - as he drove to the campsite. It had been around a three hour drive - not including breaks - but he was still in an extremely good mood, which he hoped made up for him being stressed out over the past two days. He'd made lists of absolutely everything that had to be brought along, and meticulously making sure it could all fit into as few luggage bags as possible, as well as having to finish writing up a Physics report, which didn't have to be submitted for another week, and he had already written two drafts for it, but he had just wanted to make sure that it was up to his standard, especially as it was the last one for the academic year. And submitting it early always meant getting it out of the way, so he wouldn't have to worry over it anymore.

Finally, he pulled up the car into the parking lot, and parked it in a space that was fairly close to the entrance of the camp - so that there wouldn't be too far to walk with the luggage. He let the radio finish playing the song it was currently playing, before switching that off.

Blaise had already arrived, and they were looking forward to spending the next two weeks relaxing and catching up to their former classmates. At least, that would be the plan for the most part. They still wanted to be able to spend at least an hour each day working on the final edits for their next novel, which their currently smallish fanbase was hyping about. They hoped that readers wouldn't have some sort of expectation that might not be met, but they'd enjoyed writing so far, and they'd managed to set the series up for being a trilogy.

Anyway, they just received the key to their allocated cabin - which they'd be sharing with three other people - and was given directions to the cabins. However, they didn't want to go there just yet - they wanted to wait for a few more people to arrive first, so that they could start talking to them. They hoped that, even though it was just a very small possibility of actually happening, no one would be expecting them to be a pharmacist, just as they'd originally planned to be. Their current career was... well, it was very different to pharmacy, clearly.

Hunter took a deep breath before entering the camp, his cabin key jingling in his pocket. As far as his classmates knew, he had just finished college on his football scholarship. They didn't know about the fight or getting kicked out, no, he was still the sports star and he had to act like it. He took his luggage and began walking to his cabin, secretly hoping no one would be in there yet. The number 2 seemed to stare him down as he approached and he gulped back his fear. No one knows and no one will find out. He strolled up and unlocked the door,relieved no one was there. He set his stuff down and collapsed on to a bed that he had now claimed.

as selene watched the trees blur past the window of the nondescript car she was seated in she wondered if this was a bad idea. she had had to pull so many strings and so many favors to get here that it didn't seem worth it in the end. but after all that she could't just back out and here she was. pulling up to the campsite where everyone she once knew saw her as a nobody, and probably the biggest reason why she did this, show them she was no longer that nobody.

with a thanks to her driver, selene stepped out of the car, checked in quickly before heading to cabin 1, key tightly gripped in her fist, biting into her hand. hell, she didn't know why she was so nervous, she sang on stage in front of thousands of people for christ's sake! she fumbled for a moment with the door before she finally got it open and headed inside, it seemed she was the first to arrive for her cabin and she took the time to peak into each room to see which was the best before she shrugged and decided at random. she dropped her bag into the room with what she considered the best view before collapsing right down next to it.
