he began to talk and she felt a rush of interest wash over her. his voice was a mix of shaky, but oodly calming. she followed his finger when he pointed up the street and she laughed, embarassed the directions were so simple and that she had gotten lost so easily. she focused her attention back onto the interesting character when he offered to take her and she hesitated for a moment, knowing it was hard to trust people's intentions from around here. on the other hand, he could scare off anyone who tried anything, and he seemed like a cool guy so she decided to take up his offer. "that would be perfect actually, if you don't mind," he looked tired to begin with and she didn't want to make him go out of his way, but maybe she could use the walk to get to know him a little.. they began walking up the street in the opposite direction. an awkward silence filled the air around them until all they could hear was the distant conversations of those around them and random car honking noises. "my names jackie, by the way. i swear im not dumb, i just get distracted easily," she laughed, but no laugh or chuckle in response from him. she could tell he wasn't a small talk kind of guy and she sighed, not wanting to push anything if he wasn't in the mood.

he watches her ponder over whether she should go with him or not, and she makes a smart decision by saying yes.if anything he was probably one of the most trustworthy people out here. he had no motive to even try to do anything to her.they started down the street and she started to talk. she gave off a happy and friendly demeanor and it was honestly quite refreshing. everybody here was either morbidly depressing to talk to or just not friendly. he nods his head to signalize he had heard her "im X, nice to meet you." in some way he oddly wanted to get to know her better even though he would probably never see her again. "im guessing jackie is your nickname.. so whats your real name?" he asks curiously.

to many of the girls her age who had grown up in the higher end side of manhattan, being in this part of town would be disgusting to them, almost unimaginable. they might just have a stroke if they had to walk these streets. she had seen how they treated outsiders up the upper class, like they were untouchables and she had always hated it. she found places like this beautiful in their own way, every sign had history, every person walking the streets had a story. like x, as he said his name was. "hmm, x, i like it." it perfectly matched his ominus look, she wondered him he had planned it like that. she saw him nod, and open up just a little. something told her he didn't talk much, so she felt happy he was talking to a complete stranger. anyone in this part of town could of stuck up their nose at her, calling her princess or some other name and letting her remain lost on the streets, but he chose to help and even go as far as walking with her. when he brought up how jackie was obviously a nickname, she nodded. "jacqueline is my real name, but its to long, don't slip off the younge like jackie does. but i could say the same for you, did your parents actually name you x or is it a code name?" she laughed, not knowing if it would set him off.

he quite enjoyed the way she presented himself to him, it was nothing like he would of expected. jahseh wasn't one to stereotype but in all the 19 years of his life every experience he has had with a higher class person has been bad. he was quite shocked that she hadn't shied away from him or even ran. he had that happen to him once. a girl took one look at his face and sprinted off as if he was going to attempt to murder her. the corner of his mouth twitched as if he was going to smile. he felt a bit amused "my parents didn't name me x, it's just what people call me around here." he turns his head to meet the eyes of a man eyeing the two up and down. he glares icily back and keeps speaking while still shooting an intimidating glance that symbolized for the man to stay away. "x is like.." he pauses and thinks "its basically like a unknown letter.. like a variable." "its because people know who i am.. but nobody actually knows me, hence x, unknown." it was true, he was quite infamous in this part for many things, such as his tendency to fight anybody that disrespected him.

she looked up at him as they walked, listening with open ears to everything he had to say. it was all so interesting to her. she was starting to think getting lost was one of the best mistakes she had made in a long time. she liked how he had a nickname that people knew him by. "around here?" she repeated what he has said, chuckling lightly. "you didn't tell me you were a celebirty," she teased, her giggle immediatly dying when she looked up and met the glance of a man starring dead at her and x. she had seen some scary men that her father worked with, but in these parts they were genuine. they would shoot you for a loaf of bread or if you looked at them funny. she took a couple of steps closer to x and kept his pace, keeping her eyes averted from the strange man. she noticed x and the way he looked at the man, pure hatred in his eyes, and she knew she made the right choice by going with him. her lips parted slightly in awe when he began to explain his name more. the way he explained it was mesmorizing, and she bit her lip and looked back down so she didn't look like an idiot lulled by the simple explination of his nickname. "damn, yours is a lot more cooler than mine. a cool nickname and a bunch of cool tattoos. a total badass."

he was glad the man didn't try anything, he really wasn't in the mood to fight anyone today. he listened to her words quietly and thoughtfully. he enjoyed the happiness radiating off of her while he could. it was rare for him to find anybody in a good mood these days, even himself. he looks over his shoulder at the man who was obviously following them. it was a slow pace but it still bothered him. he wraps his arm around her waist and pulls her closer to him. he didn't do this in a romantic way, more of a protective way. "i think you have a very beautiful name." he compliments as he picks up the pace making sure to keep her close.

jackie couldn't help but look back with the corner of her eye, noticing the sketchy guy hadn't given up the chase and was now following them, shuffling his feet against the cracked cement sidewalk. she suddenly felt a warm arm wrap around her waist and she tensed out of reflex, but noticed he was only giving a subtle warning to the man following them. her breathing shallowed slightly, her heart picking up its pace. she walked as fast as she could not to bring to much attention to them. she eased into his tough more and smiled genuinly to his compliment. "thank you," she said softly, her eyes still looking back every few moments. "i'm kind of glad you came with me now," she laughed nervously, walking past more corwds of people on the sidewalk.

he nods his head "no problem.." he says still warily looking behind him every few seconds. his lips curve upwards into a small subtle smile, but it was still there. "yea im glad i came with you also, i wouldn't want an innocent girl such as yourself to get kidnapped or murdered." he murmurs as they near their destination. they arrive at the cafe and he lets go of her. he can see the guy still waiting there and his jaw clenches. "well, i guess this is goodbye." he says to her. he feels a bit dismayed he had to let her go so early. he sees the guy nearing closer but he isn't worried. there's way too many people here for him to pick a fight with me.. he starts to doubt himself as the guy comes closer. he is literally a good 4 feet taller than him.

she laughed, still aware of his comfortable arm wrapped around her waist. she had met this guy 10 minutes ago and his arm around her felt more natrual than most of her past boyfriends. "yeah i wouldn't want that either, i'm just trying to get home in one piece," she looked up and her eyes met with the familar sign of the cafe she had seen just an hour earlier. she frowned as his arm left her side because it seemed like the end of the road. she turned and saw the guy approaching and she took a step back. the guy was more focused on x and she had a bad feeling about what was going to happen. her fingers found her bag and fumbled for her keys, until she found them and unlocked her Benz. her hand slipped into his and she suddenly pulled him along to her car. "'play along," she said in a low voice. she figured if it seemed like they were dating and they got in her car together, the guy would get the hint to leave.

he was about to walk away, guess im gonna have to fight him... his thoughts were cut off with her voice and also her hand slipping into his. he was shocked and confused for a moment but eventually he realized where she was getting at.
her hand felt good in his, maybe because he hadn't held someones hand in a long time. he was pulled to a very expensive looking car and he quickly realized it was a benz. he wasn't surprised one bit though because he had expected her to have things like this.
he gets into the car and shuts the door. he looks at the side mirror and sees the guy obviously annoyed and frustrated. the man then walks in the opposite direction. "thanks, i was literally about to get squashed." he looks around the car and shifts uncomfortably. he felt as if he didn't belong here... this was all so forbidden to him.
