Kate had stayed by the fire after Bailey had walked off, she smiled and sighed as she pulled out the journal she'd brought along, writing another few pages about the journey and how it had been going, You know they say it takes awhile to get used to new surroundings but when your surroundings are changing every night their ain't much to get used to. As I mentioned before, things are calming down, tensions aren't at a high and things are pretty much as normal as it gets. I'm still trying to wrestle with the thought of me becoming a do good but I think it would be for the best in my case. Set Ann example or something's stupid like that.

Charlie had been reading in his tent but once the sun started to sink the cowboy decided to mark his page and lay down. At first it seemed that sleep wasn't going to be in his near future but after a while of thinking and waiting he finally felt his eyes drift shut and sleep pulling him down into his own subconscious dreams.

Shiloh watched as Casimir retreated back to his tent for the night, a soft smile on his face. His eyes unfocused then and he was reminded of how tired he was. Shaking away the weariness he went over to his own tent, digging through his pack to find the first poetry book he had finished reading earlier today and a pencil, bringing them back with him to the fire. Looking around, Kate was still up, writing in what looked to maybe be a journal, and further on he could see Gideon's outline keeping watch.
He sat down on the ground and opened it up, flipping through the pages until he found what he was looking for. While he had been reading earlier, he'd noticed a blank page near the middle of the book - probably a printing error. Taking the pencil in his hand, he began to write on the page. He went slow, thinking over his words and what he wanted to say. It took him a while to be happy enough with what he wrote, but once he was done, he closed the book, holding it tight in his hands. Shiloh stood from where he had been on the ground, looking over to where Bailey had disappeared to earlier. He was sure the other man would be asleep by now, but he was quiet nonetheless as he moved over to his tent. Bailey's pack was sitting outside and he quickly settled the book inside, under a few other items so as not to be found right away. He knew it would mean something to Bailey, and if Shiloh was right about the other cowboy's future, he also knew he might need something to keep a connection to his past. He moved back to his own tent, finally ready to get some shuteye. He slipped off his jacket and shoes and flopped down onto the bedroll, thoughts becoming less and less the longer his eyes were closed until he had drifted off.

Light slowly crept upon the land, highlighting the darkest corners and waking up an animal of every kind. Birds chirped near and the horses stirred around the camp. Bailey woke slowly, turning onto his back and rubbing his face with the palms of his hands. With a heavy sigh, he sat up and reached out to retrieve a cigarette, bringing it to his lips as he exited his tent. His green eyes looked around the campsite, one hand shoved down a pocket to dig out a lighter. The lit flame was brought close to his face then abruptly stopped when his thumb left the trigger. The end of the cigarette burned orange as he inhaled then dimmed whenever he exhaled smoke through one corner of his mouth.
Bailey’s attention turned toward his horse when she approached at a skidded gallop. Stopping in time a foot or two away, Bailey stepping over to rub her nose with mumbled praises. A final pat was done before his departure, a soft hum of song coming from his throat as he slipped his dusty worn boots on. The bottoms of his pants riding up and partially spilling over the top. His white shirt was balled up and tossed over to his saddle bags in the same movement he took to turn away from his tent. The closer they got to their goal, the more Bailey was keen on extending their start. Becoming more leisurely and careless with starting straight off at morning. If anyone acknowledged him on the way toward the dark pit that used to be a fire, he’d give a small nod or a raise of two fingers in a wave.
Smoke rose from his lips and curled over his facial features. A hand rose to absentmindedly scratch at his bare chest as he settled down by the snuffed out fire. Extending a boot, he prodded at it. The ash easily coating the brown leather, the boot being brought close and dusted off. His hand wiped down the thigh of his dark blue jeans. Bailey didn’t feel in a rush to get going. Why were they in such a hurry anyway? He couldn’t think of one reason. Green eyes trailed over the rest of the camp, the humming in his throat becoming softer and fading out. The cigarette taken from his lips to flick the ash away. His bruised ribs didn’t hurt as much today nor did the ones outlining his jaw to his nose. From what he could figure by the ones on his torso, they were started to change color and heal. They weren’t the most attractive to look at but Bailey really didn’t get a choice in the matter, stuck with them until they completely faded away.

Kate was still sat by the fire. SHe had drifted off leaning on one hand as she suddenly sat up at the sound of appproching boots. She turned and saw Bailey sit down and she sighed softly rubbing her eyes as Shen retrieved her journal from her bag. She'd already taken down her tent while she had been on watch as well as packed up what she didn't need. She pulled a cigarette from her bag and sighed as she lit if. "You want some coffee Bailey?"She asked as she stretched her arms above her head and Shen went over to start the fire up once more. She grabbed the coffee grounds from her bag and began to start up the fire hanging the water she'd retrieved the night before over the now starting fire. Kate sat back down and began to write in the journal once more.

Shiloh was awake, but he didn't move; he'd been awake for about an hour at least now, but he hadn't moved. He was looking at the cloth wall of his tent, taking note of all the tiny weaves and stitches and everything it must have taken to make the fabric roof over his head. He hadn't moved because he felt a weight settled in his stomach that was making it a bit difficult to get up just yet. He could hear the others moving around outside, and he was glad then that he'd closed his tent up the night before. Privacy was something rarely found when you're a cowboy - especially when you're off who knows where doing the sorts of things cowboys did best - and he wanted a moment alone. It wasn't unusual or new for him to get a bad feeling, something twisting in his gut that just screamed this isn't right; but it wasn't everyday he felt a weight this heavy and dark and he needed a minute (or sixty) to process.
He'd been laying on his front, arms at his sides and head turned to look at the aforementioned cloth wall, but he rolled over onto his side then, and with a great deal of effort, sat up. He brought his knees up so he could rest his chin on them, sitting like that a while before burying his face into his legs. It was like gunshots were going off next to his head, making his ears ring and his brain short-circuit. It took him some time before he could bring himself out of it; rub his face with his hands and make a move to leave the confines of his tent. He schooled his features, tried to calm his nerves, and came out into the early morning light. It was soft and he could see dust motes swirling in the sunshine, and he found it odd how at ease the world seemed compared to the tangle of anxiety constricting around his ribs.

Cass woke up when he heard movement from outside his tent, and he lay there for a little while, figuring that it was Kate and Bailey, from the talking that he could heard. He stayed for a bit longer, just wondering what they were going to be doing. He figured that they were close to the next town - he was looking forward to them getting there. Maybe there'd be even more to explore in that town than Ellinwood.
Eventually, he did get up, and he got changed for the day, and pulled on his jacket. He left his tent, and moved over, towards the fire, deciding that he probably didn't need to pack up just yet - it didn't seem like the others had packed up yet anyway, so he figured that he could leave it for a little while longer.

“Nah, I’m good. Thanks anyway, Kate.” Bailey mumbled in reply, glancing her way. His attention was turned toward Casimir when he approached, a soft smile tugging at one corner of his lips. “Mornin’, Cas.” He greeted, going to offer the cigarette in hand before realizing he hadn’t seen the guy with one as long as he’d known him. Interrupting this action by rising it to his lips, green eyes looking pass everyone to Shiloh who had finally emerged from his tent. There was something off with him and Bailey could feel it most of the time. It made him anxious but now wasn’t the time to get worked up over something that may be nothing at all. His gaze flicked away, the end of the cigarette glowing as he sucked in.

Shiloh ran a hand over his bare side, pushing ever so slightly to check how his ribs were feeling, as he meandered over to where everyone seemed to be gathered around the fire. How very cowboy of them. His eyes found Casimir, something soft settling in his chest that gave momentary relief to the anxiety induced tightness there. He ran a hand through his hair as he passed by Bailey, plucking the cigarette from between his lips and flopping down on the ground as he took a deep drag. The steadying effect wasn't quite instantaneous, but two more pulls later he was feeling a little less like he was teetering over the edge of a cliff. He took a moment to watch the smoke swirl around his face before looking up to the others, his gaze sliding over everyone before moving to Bailey. "We've got today and then we should be pulling into another town tomorrow, right?" The question fell from his lips slowly, voice early-morning-rough, as he offered the smoke back to the other cowboy.

The cigarette was plucked from his lips, his eyes trailing up to Shiloh and following him when he had settled near on the ground. Bailey watched the smoke rise before looking away, gaze returning when the cowboy spoke. “Yeah, that’s the plan if we’re lucky.” The joke was lighthearted, his hand reaching out to retrieve the cigarette back and place it to it’s initial hold between his lips. Eyes ran over Shiloh’s face, ultimately over his hair that had grew in length last time Bailey had really paid attention to him. No comment came as he turned back and stretched his legs out in front of him. Arms and hands propping his weight behind him.

Glancing towards Bailey, Casimir nodded slightly towards him. "Morning, Bailey." he greeted, slightly surprised by the greeting. He had doubted that Bailey would ever use his nickname to address him - but he was not going to comment or complain about it, especially if it meant that the Vaquero Leader was warming up to his presence. He pretended not to notice that Bailey had been about to offer him the cigarette, and instead looked over to Shiloh, when he made an appearance. He smiled warmly towards him, raising a hand slightly in greeting, and he also sat down. Then he watched, listening to the conversation at hand, so that he could also find out what the current plan was for the next few days.
