Casimir Lodge

Location: Saloon (The Silver Spur)

Casimir wondered if it was too late to take a shot now, because nothing good was happening with his nerves, and he started to get a little antsy as well. He knew that there likely wouldn't be any trouble caused, but there was still also that possibility. He wanted to move off, maybe even leave the main bar room of the saloon and just go somewhere else, but that would be a terrible idea. As long as, he decided, he remained relatively calm, then things would be just fine. The last thing he needed was for a fight to break out - one that he wouldn't be able to control. He decided that, if he was to ever leave and go travelling, then he definitely wouldn't miss the thought of ending up unwillingly in the middle of a fight, in a saloon where lots of people could get hurt. Maybe, Cass thought, he'd like to spend time at a ranch - a proper one, not the tiny 'farm' his family owned - with a proper herd of cattle, and a dog... maybe a couple of cats as well, to chase rats and mice. And he'd still grow crops, and brew his family's beer. He got a little lost in thought, but snapped back to reality a few moments later. Casimir glanced towards Shiloh, making eye contact with him, and saw that he had moved a hand to his gun. Cass looked concerned for a moment, and then he glanced away.

        BAILEY
[ leader ][ the silver spur saloon ][ nita ]

Even in this state, he couldn’t help but chuckle at Nita. She never failed to brighten him up, even when he did feel like killing over and possibly knocking on death’s door, inviting himself right in. Bailey loved how ethuastic Nita was about just up and going somewhere, he related to it on a level. Following her out the door, he watched her in silence as she prepared the horses.

Taking her hand, he managed to pull enough strength in himself to lift up onto the saddle. “You’ve always been good to me, Nita.” He said, affectionately patting her on the head, his behavior obviously influenced by intoxicity. Bailey held on to the saddle, but not before slightly twisting to look at Cameron who had her head held low, ready to be lead. He couldn’t wait to get home, toss his boots off and crash. Banjo was probably waiting at the door for him to return home, that or off running the cattle or chickens since Bailey wasn’t there to tell him no.

He looked once back at the saloon, knowing Kate Barlow sat inside. Bailey didn’t have any worry about it, he didn’t have any worry at all right now. The only concern was how soft his bed would be, and hoped it wasn’t harder than a rock. He almost decided sleeping in the hayloft would be a better idea.

Shiloh Fray
22 / male / vaquero
at; the saloon / tagged; Casimir, Kate
Shiloh eased his hand off of the firearm, deciding that, whoever this woman was, he'd rather not seem threatening. The last things he'd want was to cause a fight. Not that he didn't think he and Robbie could take her, but rather because Casimir looked like he was fighting off anxiety. Shiloh let his posture relax, easing into a casual slouch, his hands settled back on the bar, fiddling with his now empty shot glass.
“I'm not kidding Cass, you really should have a drink.” he was kidding still, but just trying to ease some of Casimir's tension with his teasing tone and soft smile. Shiloh was wishing he could just get Cass out from under the woman's gaze, he'd bet that Casimir would rather be anywhere else.

He started to clear the top of the bar, picking up the various empty glasses that had been left, starting to allow for quite a collection that needed to be washed up to form. Cass called over the other bartender, instructing him to wash up the glasses, since they hadn't actually done much work, so he figured that washing up would keep them occupied for at least a short while. He liked being able to organise those that he worked with - even if it was just one other person. Casimir had also placed a hand on the empty shot glass, around the same time as Shiloh had started to fiddle with his empty shot glass, so their hands touched, and Cass drew his hand away a moment later. He shook his head slightly again. "Not while I'm working. Maybe when I finish up, and my father takes over for the night shift." He insisted.

Kate Barlow

She watched Shiloh and laughed as she took another sip, “I’m Kathrine Barlow, but most people call me Kate. I’m only passing through for the night and I’ll be on my way east, gotta make up for some lost time” She smirked at her glass and drummed her nails, the color was a dark almost black red as she surveyed the bar,”I won’t hurt anyone, that’s a promise. As long as I’m not attacked either.”

nita guererro
vaquero . location; saloon . tags; bailey

with a light squeeze to quetza's sides, they were off. well, as 'off' as one can be at a gentle jog- the complete opposite of nita's usual pace in just about everything. but she wouldn't be the one to knock bailey off a horse, that was the horse's job after all. speaking of horse, she looked back for a moment just to make sure cameron was alright with the lead length and pace that she'd set up, noticing bailey did as well, it reminded her of a worried parent.

nita let out a loud, short laugh when bailey patted her head, her curls bouncing from both actions. "have i? i might start to get a big head if you keep that up," she said, the smile evident through her voice. nita actually rarely got drunk, when she was younger and still living with her mother- it had been a luxury due to their location being so far from any kind of civilization and she had never been able to let go of the habit of viewing it as a treat, although she does drink rather frequently now due to the others. besides, she was more happy to see every get smashed and to hold it over them the next day than vice versa.

nita whistled for the first half of the trip, while it wouldn't take long usually, the jog they were at made it seem longer than usual.
after a few minutes she stopped, chewing her lip for a moment before tilting her head to the side to look at bailey, "mind telling me what's got you so worried? not that i mind helping you out but you just seem out of it." she asked, subtlety was not her way but she figured that not mentioning the trip was a good enough try.

        BAILEY
[ leader ][ returning to the anderson residence ][ nita ]

Bailey just gave a light chuckle at her comment before they both fell into silence. His gaze staring off at the horizon as they rode. It was starting to cool down, becoming dusk. It brought a little life back into him but not enough to consider him a new man. After a few slow moments, he finally noticed they had stopped and looked over at Nita in front of him, just in time to hear her question.

“It’s more than just worry, darlin’.” He spoke softly, but gave a small smile- hoping to reassure her concern. “I’ll be better once we’re gone. Getting a little homesick, but for the plains, ya know?” He looked away and felt the need to spill his guts but he held it together. Breathing deeply, he closed his eyes for a couple of seconds before looking back to his friend. “I feel like I need some time to discover who I am.” He wasn’t one to open up on a dime but he was coming down from being drunk and it was just aching to get out. “I’m just searchin’ around, trying to get ahold of Bailey Anderson again.” He admitted, his gaze having dropped to his lap as he chewed the inside of his cheek, thinking of what to say next. “I’ll be fine.” He gave a shrug and added in a mutter, “once I’m out there, I’ll be fine.” It was almost as if he was trying to reassure her and also himself at the same time.

Shiloh Fray
22 / male / vaquero
at; the saloon tagged; Casimir, Kate
Shiloh cast a quick glance at Kate; his hand twitched for his firearm, but he didn't reach for it, the last thing he wanted was to seem intimidating to Kate. So instead he turned back to face Casimir, even though he spoke to Kate.
“Well Kate,” Shiloh began, eyes drifting up to look at Casimir's, distracting himself a second before dropping his gaze, “I doubt anyone here is looking to pick a fight tonight. So it looks like you can enjoy your drink in peace.”
He kept his tone light, careful to sound unimpressive and maybe slightly intoxicated. The less he seemed like a threat the better. All the outlaws he'd known had always been quite quick to escalate a situation when they felt leant on, so better to diffuse any tension.
Shiloh looked back up at Cass,
"You here all night?" he questioned, maintaining eye contact.

He let out a breath of relief. No, there would not be any trouble. He was also grateful that Shiloh seemed to have recognised that he was getting really anxious, and had not pursued a path that would likely lead to a fight. "That will not be a problem, ma'am," Cass said to Kate, hoping that he would be able to keep well to that promise. At least, he certainly would not be looking for trouble himself. Casimir then glanced back towards Shiloh, and he shook his head slightly. "No, fortunately not. My father will be taking over from me in around half an hour... if you'll still be around at that point." He responded, subtly hinting at his interest, but he wasn't sure if Shiloh would still even be in the saloon by the time rolled around.

Shiloh Fray
22 / male / vaquero
at; the saloon tagged; Casimir

Shiloh licked his lips abstractedly, smiling up at Cass. He was glad to see some of his tension dissolve along with the potential tension between Kate and himself.
"Guess I'll be needin' another beer then," he whispered, just loud enough for Casimir to hear him.
He still hadn't let go of his shot glass, still twirling it between his fingers. He flashed back to when Casimir had reached for it and their hands had touched, and the resulting quick withdraw of Cass' hand as a result. It was cute. That was it really, Casimir was cute. Shiloh was sure he didn't mean to be, and it wasn't a patronization on Shiloh's part either. He was just sweet. And Shiloh liked that about him, although he could almost feel the thrum of something within Cass, a capability and tenacity that was just beyond the surface maybe. Shiloh wanted to see if he was right.
The vanquero was eager to get him out of the saloon, into the calming evening air, and maybe have a conversation that didn't have be protected from intrusive ears.
