Chester's words helped ease his embarrassment over his own over eagerness and he couldn't help but feel grateful that his soulmate seemed so kind and patient. Eli perked up when Chester mentioned Kevin, recalling conversations they had shared over writing and remembering the beloved snake. Keeping just behind Chester, Eli followed over to the tank and he watched in amazement as the little creature coiled itself around Chester. "He's absolutely beautiful. How long have you had him again?" He said softly, still memorized like I child at the zoo for the first time. Eli had never been allowed to have pet's growing up and had always been obsessed with any sort of animal he could befriend.

Perhaps he shouldn't have been surprised, but the fact that Eli seemed to be astounded and mesmerized by Kevin only cemented it further in his mind that they really, definitely were soulmates. "Four years, I think. He's practically my son," Chester replied, unable to stop himself from smiling brightly, and he let Kevin explore his other hand as well. He knew that it was probably a little bit weird to say that, but he had lived mostly alone for a while now - even going out every day did make things a bit lonely. He was, quite possibly, more besotted with the corn snake than he was with Eli. "Do you want him to have a sniff of you, to see if he likes you?" he asked, holding his hands out, and letting Kevin take an interest in the new smells that were now in the house, with quiet hisses as he flicked his tongue out. "He might try to slither onto you, but he won't bite. I already fed him this week anyway,"
