In the Streets…
A City Based Role Play
A City Based Role Play
In this world, some people succeed while others crumble. Some don’t even have a chance. Some people live lavishly in high end mansions and apartments whereas some take to the subway stations at night as a refuge. And of course, there are those you are in between, living comfortably as a middle class citizen.
Who you are in this city is up to you. What you make of our life is down on your shoulders and is ultimately your choice.
Will you fail? Or will you succeed?
Who are you?

[center]Notes about this role play
Several things, simple things, will be asked of you in your forms. I wanted to inform you on these things.
This is a New York City based role play
There are a total of nine places you may chose to live.
These places are:
In New York: The Five Boroughs
Manhattan
This is the third most populated of the five. There is any diversity here and it is where the largest buildings lay, as well as a huge variety of business and restaurants. This borough also has the more lavish parts of town, more money other words. While standard citizens live here as well, of course, and a good amount of homeless, this is the place where it is most common to find wealthier people.
Notable places in Manhattan include:
-Central Park
-Upper West Side
-Empire State Building
-Fifth Avenue
-Rockefeller Center
-Battery Park
-Carnegie Hall
-Bryant Park
-Grand Central Terminal
-Times Square
-Broadway
The Bronx
The Bronx almost seems nothing like Manhattan with its own sense and appeal. Here, there is a significantly noticeable different life style. Here, it is run down and the crime rates are higher. The population is the fourth largest of the boroughs. This is the most run down and has the most poverty in all five boroughs. Here, the neighborhoods are crumbling, there are more unemployed people and people struggling to survive. While it is rather large, there is still some business dwindling here. Gangs are more common here than anywhere else in the boroughs.
Notable places The Bronx includes:
-The Bronx Zoo
-Yankee Stadium
-Woodlawn Cemetery
-Hall of Fame for Great Americans
-Fordham University
Brooklyn
The most iconic thing about Brooklyn would no doubt be the Brooklyn Bridge, which connects to Manhattan. Brooklyn is the most populous of the five boroughs with booming and bustling business. It has a large variety of buildings and skyscrapers, not to mention it's gorgeous scenery. Having an ideal location, Ellis Island, home of the Statue of Liberty, can be seen from here. Coney Island, a popular amusement park, can be easily accessed here as well. Socially, Brooklyn has just as much of a range as Manhattan.
Notable places in Brooklyn includes:
-The Brooklyn Bridge
-Green Wood Cemetery
-East River State Park
-Prospect Park
-Brooklyn Botanic Garden
-Brooklyn Museum
-Brooklyn Public Library
Queens
Queens is the second largest of the five boroughs when considering its size. It’s population is just behind Brooklyn in size. Queens has easy water access and access to the other five boroughs from here is relatively easy.. From Queens, Long Island can easily be reached. Queens has a lot of business and a large variety of people. The buildings aren’t as big here as Manhattan or Brooklyn, but there is still a lot here when considering business and living. Queens has its share of poor neighborhoods as well as scenery.
Notable places in Queens includes:
-Citi Field
-College Point Little Leagues Building
-Flushing Meadows Corona Park
-Queens Museum of Art
-Silvercup Studios
Staten Island
Staten Island has significantly less population than the rest of the boroughs, not even close. Whereas Brooklyn and Queens have well over 2 million, Manhattan and the Bronx having over 1 million, Staten Island has less than 500 thousand. Near New Jersey, Staten Island can only be reached by bridge. This island has received a significant amount of damage and destruction done to it from Hurricane Sandy in 2010, leaving many parts of this island torn to this day. This area tends to be more run down with a very at home feel, given its smaller size.
Notable Places in Staten Island includes:
-Historic Richmond Town
Places outside of the five boroughs:
Long Island
Long Island is a densely populated island not too far off the shores of Manhattan. Long Island is a rather large island, only consisting of four counties. The west side of Long Island is considerably more urban than the east, as well as being home to Plandome Manor, a neighborhood known for its million dollar homes and gorgeous piers. The east side of Long Island is more city like. The people here are extremely diverse, ranging from tremendously wealthy people to lower middle class citizens.
Hoboken, New Jersey
Hoboken is easily accessed from New York by subway, although other modes of transportation can get someone here as well. It is a part of the New York metropolitan area, despite being in New Jersey. It is along the East River with a population of around 50 thousand, which continues to grow every year. Hoboken was heavily devastated during Hurricane Sandy in 2010. Many efforts have been put into ensuring that Hoboken stands to these storms in the future. Here, there are more blue collar jobs but Hoboken is mostly filled with shops, condominiums, and a variety of business.
Jersey City, New Jersey
Jersey City, not too far off from New York as it is across the Hudson River,Jersey City is easily accessed by subway, which runs under the river in bedrock. Jersey City has the second highest population in the state as well as a handful of large buildings, slightly smaller than the typical skyscraper. Jersey City is more run down than most of the New York boroughs with many crumbling neighborhoods. However, it is cheaper to live here than in the big city itself. A variety of businesses run here, from small shops to large hotels.
Newark, New Jersey
Often times dubbed the “next Detroit”, Newark features itself as the largest city in all of New Jersey population wise as well as being the second most ethnically diverse city in the state, with Jersey City being the most ethnically diverse. Newark has home to many large business headquarters, large buildings, as well as crumbling neighborhoods and a high crime rate. Newark is mainly a white collar area, which is divided into five wards used to help residents site their locations.![]()
