By the time Ingo had carved the wooden blocks, Indigo was up in the crow's nest on Dawn Watch. She saw the sun come up over the horizon and smiled, not knowing that in just a few hours, the two captured crewmembers were to be hanged.
Milo smiled at Ella as he went through the steps, saying quietly, "This one's called a waltz. Somebody told me once that the music's in three-four, but I don't know what that means." A voice from beneath the floorboards startled the boy, making him flinch. "it means three beats to a measure, old chap." The voice had a heavy english accent, and Milo wondered why on earth a victorian gentleman would be hiding under the floor. Then a trapdoor opened and the little girl Rose came out, along with a petite girl who had flaming red hair and green eyes. "I say, my boy," she said, the accent sounding strange from her mouth, "You look jolly well surprised. Tut tut and pip pip and all that, my lad!"
