Parker watched as Batya slowly nodded and followed Grace, his smile brightening. "Thank you," He mouthed to grace, both for cooking and for taking Batya under her wing. As the kitchen began to fill, Parker seemed to become more energetic. "Good morning, guys," he greeted cheerfully.

"I slept quite okay, thank you Grace. How about you?" Alice said kindly as she sat on a chair. She looked over to hear Bren mumble a 'morning' and gave a smile in return with a small 'morning as well. She over heard Grace about nightmares and remembered hers, 'But, it wasn't real.. I hope it wont.. Those children, so innocent and young to see the horror in front of their eyes..' Alice thought as she fidgeted with her bracelets and wristbands. "Morning.." the teen said and yawned slightly.

Grace: I turned and smiled a little at Alice "I could have slept better but I was trying to catch up some homework." I said with a shake of my dark head. "I thought I had it all done but I missed some stuff right after my..." I fell silent and looked down sadly. It had only been a week since my mom's murder and I was still trying to figure out if I was going to be able to go to Greece for her funeral plus I had been having nightmares as well. The night before had been no different as I had had a couple really bad ones which led me to sit up most of the night catching up my homework and getting ahead in some of my classes.

Batya watches and listens to Grace as the older girl spoke to her and smiles a little as the grey eyes started to calm her nerves, making her not stressed anymore. She nods to what Grace said and hold out her full arm and, after a moment of hesitation, her half arm so that Grace could pick her up and set her on the counter.

Grace: I caught Parker's mouthed thank you and smiled then gave him a wink as I scooped Batya up and rose. I seemed to almost float with Batya in my arms. I settled her on the counter and lightly kissed the top of her head. "What do you think about after breakfast I put your pretty hair up in a braid like I wear mine?" I asked as I turned to spoon up a tiny bit of the freshly made gravy and blew on it before offering it to Batya with a soft smile.

Batya feels and sees Grace pick her up but it doesn't feel like that as she is taken over to the counter and placed on it. She smiles from the kiss and nods to the question before watching her spoon out a little gravy. Batya eats the gravy and thinks about it for a moment before giving Grace a thumbs up since it tasted well seasoned to her.

Alice watched Batya and Grace together, smiling softly on what they did. It reminded her and her mother when she was a about Batya's age. 'I miss you mommy...' She thought and sighed as she went back to playing with her accessories on her wrist.

Grace: I smiled at Batya "well thank you sweetheart. You make a great taste tester." I told her as I dipped down to pull the biscuits out of the oven before cooking the bacon, eggs and hash browns. I offered Batya bits of the rest of the food letting her tell me in her own way if it needed extra seasoning.

Batya watches Grace work as a small smile came on her face from the compliment. She tries each once and gives the bacon and biscuit a thumbs up. Batya gives the eggs and hash browns a thumbs down since she thinks that it needs more season and wonders if Grace will taste it to make sure about the needing more season.

Grace: I smiled and added just a touch of salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns. I still moved with a gentle grace that had always been in my nature as a dancer. "one day things will be so different little love." I said to Batya hoping that as time passed I would be able to get her to talk to me. "Maybe I can help you to learn a new way to talk besides writing. I might be able to teach you to speak in sign." I suggested as I moved. I glanced over at Parker and smiled a little "Parker I know we need to talk, can we do so after breakfast?" I asked him as I reached for his coffee cup to fill it with fresh coffee.
