Natalie gained consciousness. She had been upstairs when the earthquake had hit and she didn't have time to leave. She was busy doing her homework and then all of the sudden there was chaos. She rubbed her head; it hurt. Luckily, the desk she was under hadnt collapsed, but everywhere else had. She was pretty much on a ledge. She looked down; she could climb down the rubble. So, that's what she did. She climbed down and looked around. The place seemed deserted. There weren't any helicopters in the sky, or any rescue teams running around. "H... He..." She started coughing. "Help..." She cried out weakly. "Help..." She collapsed, huddling into a ball of shock of what has just happened.

Cullen lay unconscious in his friend's house. He and his friend had been downstairs when the earthquake hit and even if there were rescue teams, they would have probably skipped right over him. There was a hole leading up to the top big enough for a small or skinny person to fit through but that was about it. If Cullen was awake, all he would know was that he was trapped. And that his friend lay dead a few feet away from him.

Mia smiled up at Jay when she heard a faint cry for help nearby. She took off running and saw a girl crawling down from the ruble she was trapped in. She barked and ran over to the girl and sniffed her, she licked her hand to try and comfort her. "You're going to be okay." She whimpered. She knew humans couldn't understand animals but she still talked to them. Mia knew they had to leave and started pulling on her sleeve trying to get her to move. "Come on! Water is coming!" She barked in a panic.

Natalie looked at the dog. She used to have a dog when her parents were still together, but the dog went With their mother. She knew the dog was trying to tell her something, and it was urgent. "Okay, okay... I'll come with you." She mumbled, trying her best to stand up. She was still shaky from the earthquake. She took a few steps forward then collapsed again, looking at the dog. "I just can't do it girl, I'm not strong enough... Go on, go without me. I'll be fine." She mumbled again. Her legs had fallen asleep in the earthquake and she didn't know how long she'd been unconscious for. "I just need some time..."

Mia whined and barked at her again. "No! You will die! Water is coming we have to run!" She barked pulling at her sleeve again.

Natalie looked at the dog. "Okay, okay... I'll try... But I can't really feel my legs, you see. It's going to be hard for me.. to walk." she lifted herself up again, walked a few steps, and fell down once more. She started crying. She looked at the dog through her tears. "Okay, okay." she said, even though the dog hadn't said anything. She wiped her face to try to get the tears out of her eyes. "What if I just crawl... Does that work?" she got up on her hands and knees. "This will work, where are we going, pup?"

Mia whined. "I'll be back I'll go get Jay and the other humans!" She barked and ran. Once she saw Jay and the others she barked trying to get there attention.

Jay saw the water coming, it was still far away but moving quickly. "Run! He yelled." A bark got his attention and saw the dog barking at him, it looked panicked. Jay ran to the dog and saw a girl on the ground. "Hey! Can you get up? We need to move, the dams broke and the water is rising." He said.

Lavia let Emily lean on her for support, and followed Jay. She saw a girl huddled on the ground and Jay trying to help her. Lavia saw a hole in the side of the collapsed building and looked into it. She saw another person. "Guys! There is a boy in here too!" She panicked trying to pull him out.

Natalie sat down, and then looked up as some guy came up to her. "If I could get up don't you think I would have?" she snapped. She immediately felt bad for snapping afterwards, but she was just in too much stress to apologize right now. "My legs are asleep, I think. I can't walk more than a few steps." Worry haunted her face. When she saw the girl try to pull another person out of a building close by, her eyes lit up with even more worry. "Cullen? Cullen! That's my brother!" she said, trying her best to stand up, but falling back down. She looked up at the guy who had spoken to her. "Please, help me up - I think i could walk with assistance."

Cullen groaned as he was moved from his resting spot. His eyes opened for a brief second, seeing a blurry girl pulling him from the wreckage. "...Natalie?" he mumbled, then fell unconscious again.

Jay was a little taken back by the girls tone at first, but brushed it off as nerves. "Yah I'll help." He said and wrapped his arm around her torso letting her put weight on him. He walked over to Lavia and Cullen and sighed. "I'll carry Cullen. We need to get to higher ground, so we are safe from the water. "Whats you're name?" he asked the girl as he passed her over to Lavia. He then picked up Cullen and put him on his shoulders.

Lavia set Cullen down and took the girl then helped support her. "Someone needs to help Emily too." She said in a worried tone. She didn't know what to do.

Natalie smiled at them both for helping her. "My name's Natalie.. that's my brother, Cullen. He was over at his friends house... luckily they don't live too far away." She looked around. "Yes, we definitely need to get to higher ground... and if anybody falls in don't worry, I'm a life guard." she said, giving them a laughing smirk, trying to lighten the mood a bit.
