I nod, listening to his comment about how he liked to show people he was smart as well as muscular. I could understand that, at first glance I would have pegged him for a dumb jock myself; however, that's not the case. I hear his question and shake my head no. Moving a piece of hair behind my ear, I say to him, "you have a nice smile and you don't smile too much. I had only asked that before because I was just being my annoying, observant self."

Mason chuckled, "I don't think you're annoying." He said and stretched, suddenly curious, "So... I know you said you don't laugh often... but do you know what makes you laugh? Bad jokes? Comedians?"

Autumn:

I shrug, seeing as this was bothering him more than he was letting on. "I don't know, if I think of something then I'll tell you," I say to him, not really able to recall things that make me laugh right off the top of my head.

Mason nodded, "Alright..." He nodded and sighed, "Sorry, it's just really odd... Most girls I meet just laugh at my jokes just because. At least I know you're honest." He chuckled quietly.

Autumn:

After a moment I say to him, "I could always pretend to laugh at your jokes if it will make you feel more comfortable around me. It wouldn't be the first time I've done it." There were actually several occasions where I had acted like I was amused just because I didn't want people to think I was weird.

Mason shook his head quickly, "No, that's alright. Id rather you be yourself, please." He smiled softly at her, "I'm fine with you not laughing at my jokes, they aren't all that good, I have to admit." He shook his head, still smiling, "And we aren't on a date."

"Okay," I say nodding when he says about being myself. I do let out a small laugh when he mentions the comment that we aren't on a date. The idea of me ever being on a date is so ridiculously out there, I actually found it a little funny. With a small smile I tell him, "there you go, and that wasn't fake either."

Mason smiled and chuckled, "The idea of a date is pretty silly,huh? I mean me... on a date...? No way..." he snorted.

"I was thinking the same thing about myself," I tell him. "Most people could barely stand to be around me, no one would ever want to go on a date with me. And there's always the fact that I don't believe in love," I explain to him, mumbling the last part.
