Jared just shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, picking up some of the smaller stones to skip them out onto the water. "You could say that. But I think it's a little more beautiful now that you're here." The words spilled out of his mouth and he glanced over at her before returning his gaze to the rolling water. Jared was not the most charming person; usually he didn't have to try, so actually complimenting someone was a weird concept for him. He wasn't lying, though. This girl made his small hideout spot feel more peaceful than it already was, and he was still trying to wrap his head around that.

Olivia looked around the room for any other kid who didn't already have a pair, surely she couldn't be the only one. A small sigh of relief escaped her lips as she noticed one other towards the back of the room. She recognized him as a jock, but she had never spoken to him before, they just had class together. Carefully getting up and walking over to his seat, she grabbed an empty near by chair and pulled it up next to him. "Is it alright if I work with you?" Liv asked quietly, a little worried at what he might say. The jocks were never really ones to hang with the outcasts. "I'm Liv, by the way."

Bree listened to the boy, Chandler, talk. She smiled when he said her name was lovely, "Why thank you...Chandler," she responded, blushing. "Actually, I'm not new, I've been here for 2 years, so I started here in the 10th grade," Bree explained. "So, um, what do you like to do on your free time?" She asked Chandler, questioning if that was the right thing to say to try to start a conversation. She relaxed a little bit in her seat, aye, meeting new people wasn't that hard, I mean, she did it a ton her first year here.

piper released a small stutter as the boy pulled out three pencils. "o-oh," she whispered, hesitant as she noticed his dimple-y smile. her brother had dimples. girls seemed to love them, but pip was never sure why. they were just weird indentations in your face caused by shortened muscles, and, technically, a genetic mutation. "uh, th-thanks." she smiled a little, although her expression still appeared rather anxious and uncomfortable, which was an accurate manifestation of how she felt at the time. with a light sigh, piper took the pencils, stuffing two of them in her backpack and using the other one to write down the second problem that the teacher had written on the board. her handwriting was neat and curly, obviously that of a girl. she was the one who was always asked to write people's name on their cups at parties, simply because her script was so nice. as she calculated the acceleration and distance a racecar had traveled over a period of 2.4 seconds, pip scrunched her nose a bit. it was a habit of hers, that her dad often pointed out as "cute," but she'd always hated.

luke felt someone tap his shoulder, and immediately realized that it was probably just another jerk, so he ignored them. when he heard the soft voice of a girl, however, he lifted his head to see a brunette in need of a pencil. "u-uh," he stammered, reaching around the back of his wheelchair to grab his backpack. he opened it and rummaged through all of the journals and textbooks until he found a pencil at the bottom. "here," he whispered, pulling it out and handing it to the girl with a smile. "let me know if you need another one."
