Chase - Jedi, Cal

Growling, he tried to hang on but the sudden blows to his jaw made that impossible. With a grunt of pain he released Jedi's ankle, falling back out of the tree at an awkward angle. He screamed angrily as his shin snapped, filling the air with a resounding crack. He collapsed, curling up and biting back another scream.

Jedi - Chase

His eyes widened as he watched the boy fall, then winced. That's not what he had meant to happen. Panting hard, gasping for air that his wounded throat didn't want to supply him, he sat on the branch, looking pale and shocked.

Cal

Cal rushed over to Chase. He knew that, from the way Chase's shin was bent, it had snapped. "Chase!"

Brooke

Brooke smiled. "He looks like he's really nice. What's his name?"

Chase - Cal, Jedi

Chase groaned, rolling over and clutching his knee, burying his face into the grass. He didn't say anything, just made a variety of animalistic sounds as he tried to cope with the excruciating pain. Finally he took a shaky breath and tried to stand, falling over instantly with a pitiful sounding yelp.

Moe - Brooke

He looked away, folding the paper up again and slipping it away. He didn't want to talk and held up his hand, making sign language letters for B.O.

Jedi - Cal, Chase

He set his jaw to hide any emotion as he watched the boy in pain, then turned his head away and stared out at the other trees.

Chase - Cal, Jedi

The pain brought back memories, memories he'd suppressed so many times. Memories of when his own father had broken his arm during a training exercise. "I'm going, to kill you!" He shouted at Jedi, snarling as he tried to stand again. The reason he'd been such a hassle at Juvie was that his father had taught him to channel his pain into anger, an incredibly effective tactic. When he'd broken his arm, his dad had made him fight until he won, even though his bone was shattered. That training had obviously stood the test of the years as Chase tried to stand.

Brooke

"Bo," she said, smiling. She knew a little sign-language. Not enough to be fluent, but still. "That's cool. Moe and Bo."

Cal

"Chase, calm down," Cal said. "You're going to make it worse if you keep moving. Calm. Down. " He pulled out his cell, which he tried to use sparingly, and called an ambulance.

Sarah

Sarah jotted down the name. "How many kids did he have? Do you know who inspected the home? What happened?"

Chase - Cal, Jedi

"No!" He snarled, glaring at Cal, then collapsed again. This time, he didn't get up, shin bent horribly out of shape. It was impossible to stand on, not just too painful, but physically impossible. Yelling in pain and anger, he gripped his scalp, digging his nails in and leaning forwards, panting. Being restrained, physically, or by injury, freaked him out.
