"You don't have to run, you know," she said, hoping she was gauging his reaction correctly, and he wasn't just freaked out by the awful state she was in.
Without thinking he spun around and punched him across the face, then froze for a split second. In that split second he realized how stupid that was and that Chase would now probably attempt killing him. The next second he whirled around and bolted for the door.

He shook his head and pulled his knees to his chest. He didn't want to be out in the open with people he didn't know.
Chase let his head whip back with the punch, then rushed forwards after him. "You're gonna get it rat!"
“So you really are a princess.” Maverick's eyes burned both with anger and hurt. "When were you planning to tell me; before or after I got killed trying to protect you?”
His heart raced as he leapt away, easily reaching the door and ramming through it. He had a good four inches in leg length on Chase but still recovery from his previous sickness slowed him down. He wheezed slightly but kept going like his life depended on it, sprinting for the nearest tree.
He heard Cal's order, but ignored it, climbing up a tree after Jedi, all thoughts on getting his hands around the other guy's throat.

He felt his hand clutch around his leg and immediately reacted, kicking back as he clung to a branch so hard he flinched. He hoped it would at least loosen the guy's grip on him and out of blind adrenaline he kicked again.
He looked more interested at this and nodded meekly, pulling out the picture he'd drawn and kept in his pocket and unfolding it for her. He showed her and pointed at the red haired boy.
