Brice
It wasn't too long before they made it back to his place and he parked along the sidewalk. No point in parking in the driveway when he planned to leave again. "I'll be right back." He told Copeland before getting out. He went to the door and let himself inside to find that everything was quiet. He looked around for a moment before calling, "A-pah!" He had just texted his father and gotten a response before coming here...but now the house was still and quiet. He then heard the sound of loud 'clinks' in the garage and his lips slid into a smirk.
He made his way to the garage where he found his father working on something. "A-pah," he started as he stepped just outside, "I'm going out again. I wanted to let you know, though." He then tried to casually slip back inside.
His father, Chaojian, paused and looked up from what he was doing. "Brice." He stated firmly.
Brice sighed and closed the door behind him as he stepped back into the garage. "Where are you going?"
"Just to, uh..." He hadn't exactly worked that out yet.
"...Does this have to do with that girl?"
Brice's eyes slipped away. "Well... kinda... Wait." He looked up and gave his father a sideways look. "How'd you know it was a girl? I asked to stay at friend's..."
Chaojian's lips twisted into a slight smile. "You'll learn, boy, you'll learn. Anyway," he began abruptly, "how long have you known her?"
"...Barely a day. I mean, I've seen her around school..."
Chaojian nodded. "And you're already spending the night? Running bases awfully quick, aren't we Brice?" He hiked an eyebrow.
"Whoa. Whoa. It's not even like that!"
His father only chuckled and there was a moment of silence as he began cleaning up a bit. "...You like this girl?"
Brice shrugged. "She's...cool." He smiled at the ground.
His father only chuckled again. "Well, you shouldn't keep her waiting."
"...How'd you know she was in the car?"
Chaojian shook his head. "You make this too easy. You tell on yourself. ...You're usually more clever than this."
His father was right; he was slipping. Brice straightened and cleared his throat. "I'm gonna go now, a-pah."
"Very well."
Brice waved and headed back inside.
"Oh, by the way," his father halted him. "Grab an old sheet from the closet... And some juice."
He scoffed. "I don't need juice. We're not little kids."
"Then water. Whatever. The girl will get thirsty, though. No point in buying something for when that happens."
"Alright. Fine. Thanks." He started to leave again.
"One more thing: Don't let this girl get in the way of your studies."
Brice only chuckled. "Of course not, dad... She's just a friend." With that, he finally left.
He grabbed a sheet from the closet and then a couple of bottles of water before returning to the car. "Miss me?" He asked once he opened the door. He reached and placed everything in the backseat before turning and starting down the road again. "Aaand, we're off."
(*Sorry this ended up so long... was so different in my head. Hahah.*)
