Katie had heard footsteps, wiping away the tears. The paint was washed off in streaks and her eyes were bloodshot from crying as she looked up.

i could tell something was wrong. he seemed...distant.

Distant was probably the perfect word, his gaze focused on the sky ahead of them, thinking.

i didn't want to pressure him to tell me what was wrong. i kept quiet and looked at saw katie on the bench.

Katie looks away from them, not wanting them to see she was crying.

He was wondering if he could actually trust Alaska or anyone else again, or if he was just faking it to himself. He hoped he could, he really did. He didn't notice Katie but stopped walking, looking over at a building.

i let out a little sigh. "what's wrong?" i asked katie.

Katie looks over at Alaska finally, showing she was crying. "Nothing.." She mutters, taking a shaky breath.

He didn't snap back into reality, but slowly moved his attention to Katie. "It's never nothing." He sighed.
