Landon nodded. He laughed when she mentioned Crocodile Hunter. "Yeah, I lov'd that guy, too. I don't ge' the idea o' how NYC and CA are so pop'lar, ev'ry place has stores, bu' you know." Landon gently tousled her hair. "Aw, don't be like that!" He made a pouty face as well. Landon chuckled, "So I'm guessin' I'm a rainbo' unicorn or somethin' and ev'ryone else ar' horses?"

Alycia walked with a black hoodie, covering her face and hair to humanity. She was new, and would be the curiousity, and possibly a freak. She tugged her hoodie off gently when she reached the front office, where she had to get a guide of the school and which classes she would be in, thanking the women behind the counter after several boring minutes, she collectd the unfamiliar paperwork and walked back outside, forgetting about her hoodie.

Tristyn was also happy to hear the bell. Most people lived for free period, but she found it so boring. So although she hated math, she headed to Algebra II with a good attitude. Who knows, she might get a nice teacher, and maybe meet some cute girls? Another good thing was that the class was on the floor she was already on: 2nd. It wasn't because she was lazy, she just didn't like dealing with the busy stairways.

Aeris laughed, "Pretty much. My friend's little sister was telling me about pegacorns, which are apparently horses with wings AND a horn. Talk about the best of both worlds. So you'd be that, I suppose." She then pictured a pegacorn with Landon's face on it and had to hold back from bursting into uncontrollable laughter. She then thought about NY and CA's appeal. "Hmm, maybe it's because New York has the Statue of Liberty and Cali has, well, Hollywood." She then had an idea and broke into a mischievous smile. "Crikey! Look at the size of that croc!"

Caleb smiled, "Jasper says meow. Loosely translated to 'thanks, man!'" He then paused for a moment, thinking about the comparison Collin made. "Huh. Never really noticed that before. They do say pets are like their owners." He then raised his eyebrows when Collin listed his cats. "Wow! Full house, huh? I like the names you chose, they're very unique. I've always wanted to have a lot of pets, but then you have to have a-lot-pets-money and a-lot-of-pets space. I hope you get to keep them; I can tell you really love them."

Upon reaching the side door, he snuck a furtive glance over his shoulder, but there was nobody there. Good. He grabbed the handle and opened it, squinting slightly at the sudden onset of sunlight. He waited for Beatrice to follow then let the door slam shut. "I thought the handball courts would be quiet enough." He heard the sound of a ball hitting the ground and looked to see that a few people were actually on the courts, but their backs were turned.
Oskar turned to Beatrice and took a deep breath, letting out in a sigh. "So, listen. I'm not the best guy for giving advice, but sometimes being listened to is all you need. To have your pain be acknowledged. Nobody did that for me. I mean they tried, but they just pitied me like some sick puppy. I mean, I lost someone too." He bit his lip. "My father. He...was in a car accident. I was in the car too. I saw everything. I saw them hit us. I heard my dad screaming. I saw his blood. Then I started screaming and it all went black." His face twisted into an angry frown. "Most people would have felt sad. I mean, I did, don't get me wrong. But I was angry. I wanted vengeance. Not just on the bastard, excuse my language, who killed my father, but on the entire world. I dealt with my grief by violence. I started fights. I came to school with bloody knuckles. Anyone who even looked at me wrong, I jumped them. Got a bad rep. Suspended. People knew not to mess with me. But nobody knew it was because I was hurting."

"I can understand the appeal of books; getting lost in a fantasy world, and forgetting to come back home..." Oskar trailed off. "But I never had enough patience to read them, really. I tore out pages and wrote how I felt at that moment then set them on fire. Got a couple of nasty burns because of this." He looked down at his right hand, remembering one searing welt he had gotten for letting the fire creep up from the page to his skin. "As odd as it sounds, I didn't mind too much. Yes, I put out the fire, but, you see it was a way to connect with my father. To feel what he felt, in a way. I never went out of my way to hurt myself, but when I, like, fractured my hand after a drunken wall-punching session, I was smiling all the way to the hospital." Oskar shrugged. "It's weird, I know."
