Once the car flew by, Wind whipping at the two of them, He let out a sigh of relief, Turning to her, Scowling.

Lydia gasped as she felt somebody shove her, causing the bike with her on it to topple to the ground, just out of the moving car's path. She looked up to see a boy with dark hair, who looked quite angry. Say something! Lydia stuttered as she quickly twisted the knob behind one of her hearing aids, making everything louder. "I-I didn't see the car until it was right there, a-and I couldn't hear it coming, I just-" She stared at him, her eyes a bit wide. She was still in shock of what had just happened. After a second of silence, she felt her cheeks starting to turn red. "Thank you," she said quietly.

Lydia took his hand, getting up with a small grunt. She caught the boy looking at her ears and sighed. "I'm deaf, but I can hear with these," she mumbled, gesturing gingerly to the hearing aids. This was the part where most people started talking extra loud and enunciating their words to the point where it was offensive. She hoped that this guy would be different, but chances were, he'd be just like everyone else; an insensitive jerk who felt bad for the deaf girl.

Connor had the social skills of a potato, and it was true that he really choked up around girls.
