Carina turned away, hiding the tears that filled her eyes. She suddenly felt the way she had always felt growing up. She was just the shy girl, the one with no friends. The temper, the outgoing feisty attitude... it was all a put on. She thought if she acted different than she always had... maybe, just maybe things would be different, but obviously they wouldn't be. Underneath all the tomboyishness she had always put on, was just a normal girl. One who wanted a guy. Not even necessarily a prince charming, but a guy who would protect her, and be there for. One to look up to. She tried to steady her breathing. I will NOT cry in front of him, I. Will. Not. Cry. she thought, as a tear fell from her eye. She kept her back to Colton, but she knew her body was shivering ever so slightly. She would probably never get a friend. She would just have to accept that.

He is determined not to feel bad. He had broken hearts before right? Right. No. Yes. This girl was no different. She just wanted to be friends. A voice deep inside him urges. Well I can't excatly go and apoligize to her now. He shoves his regret deep into the back of his mind. The smaller girl has her back turned to him as she quivers. He feels a pang of sympathy hit him in the chest. You did this. He thinks. It doesn't matter. You didn't put up walls for people to knock them down. You put them up to keep people out. To keep them safe. He turns and leaves the princess standing there, urging himself out the door.

Carina listened to him hesitate, and then walk away. She felt a small sob escape her just before Colton left the garden. No. He probably heard that! she thought to herself. She leaned her head back slightly, tears slipping down her face faster now. She felt one more tremor run through her body and she took a deep breath. She was going to stay in the garden for a while. There was no way she could go back to the ball in this state.

Smiling brightly, I looked at her, "You are amazing," I replied, looking into her eyes.

"Umm thanks" Sophia said a bit surprised. She really wasn't used to people complimenting her. At all.

His head whips around as he hears the sob, but he continues on. He has always hated the sound of crying, it always sounded so desperate to him. A plead for help. A call no one is willing to answer. Nope, he isn't regretting what he said. Not at all. Okay, maybe a little. He had broken hearts before, but he had only reduced one other maiden to tears. He hates it, but it's all part of the job. You can't excatly be Colton unless a few tears are spilled on your behalf.

Carina turned around, and watched Colton go. She flinched slightly at the sight of him. She had never been hurt that bad. She had never thought she was that close to making a friend. She had thought she was getting somewhere with him, with the teasing name calling and such... but obviously she hadn't. Tears continued to flow, and she desperately hoped that none of the media would see her. Another small sob escaped her mouth, and she sat down on one of the benches in the garden.

He hears the sound of shouting, then footsteps, then the quiet soft sound of sobbing. Still dressed in his regal-looking suit, the tall caramel-haired boy makes his way over to the centre of the garden. There, a smallish girl in a glittering dress sits with tears streaming down her face. "Miss, are you alright?" He picks up his pace.

Carina stiffened as she heard someone else walking towards her. She quickly wiped her face, actually thanking her stylist for once that she had used waterproof makeup. "I'm f-fine." she said, forcing a small smile onto her face as she saw the young man walking toward her.
