Ashley saw the snake and her eyes widened. "Woah.. that's amazing.." She smiled softly.

I looked at the snake's pupil, it was a poisonous snake. "Don't frighten it. It's poisonous and will attack if you threaten it." I ran my fingers down the snake's rough skin, feeling the muscles ripple underneath.

Ashley nodded, smiling softly. "The wild is amazing.."

Jake

I nodded, and held out my hand to the snake. It slitheres onto the hand and I lifted it to a branch on the tree, where it left, onto the branch.

AShley smiled softly, looking around. She looked back at Jack, grinning softly.

(Can I recommend calming the use of "softly"?)

Jake

I watched the snake slither up the tree and disappear into the leaves. "Let's head back and get some lunch."

Ashley nodded, speaking a bright tone. "Race ya!" She sprinted ahead into the trees, hiding behind a tree to attempt scaring Jake.

Jake

I dodged the tree, and appeared at the side she wouldn't expect. I raced further, legs pumping. My heart pounded in my ears, but I didn't lose my breath. I beat her to the willow tree, and pushed past the curtain of leaves.
