He let the breeze blow through his hair as he lay down. With his eyes closed he listened to Cinder's question. "About a year, I've been hoping from foster home to foster home to orphanage." He smiled, I do't mind though I've been to a lot of states and even lived in Hawaii at one point."

"I'm not the kind of person who enjoys change." She said, leaning her back against the tree, staring at the ground that was far beneath her. "I mean, I would love a real home, but I'm not sure I can trust anyone I'll ever live with." She added and sighed a bit. "I've heard rumours about ms Darla locking people in an attic, is that true?" She asked tilting her head.

"Sometimes change is a good thing." He frowned when she mentioned the attic. "I'm not sure, I've never been there and the time I've been here she's never sent anyone up." He chuckled. "We should get ready though, that could be us up there if we get caught."

Cinder gritted her teeth at the thought. "Well, if it was me I'm quite sure she wouldn't get me in there without a few deep cuts." She said, her voice was now a quiet hiss, she flipped out a knife that she always kept in her pocket as an explanation and sighed a bit. "I'm quite sure someone with claustrophobia should be locked in an attic, unless you want an attic that will need lots of repairing." The small girl remarked before leaning forward so she fell off the branch, but she quickly caught herself to show she did it on purpose. She swung on the branch and landed on the ground glancing around. "I don't plan on getting caught."

I walk through the halls and after seeing they were mostly empty, I went downstairs to the main desk and glanced out of the window. I saw a girl that must have been new, looking kind of confused and I looked around before go outside. "Um, do you need help with anything...?"

Rae looked up at the boy who had spoken to her. She sighed silently and then forced her smile and shrugged, "I was just kinda left here...so I am not sure what exactly to do or where to sleep and such" she explained to him and smiled softly.

I smile softly at the girl. "Well I think I can help with that." I say and walk outside. "Let's go inside and see where they have a room open. Do you need help with your things?" I ask, opening the door.

Rae gripped her hand around her suitcase and pulled it up, shaking her head slightly and she said, "oh, no...I think I can manage" she told him and smiled, walking forward a bit and following him. She then added, "oh, right and thank you for helping me out, I didn't want to just wander around like a lunatic" she explained and walked up next to him, "I'm Rae" she told him and looked at him.

"Why do you carry around a knife? You could hurt yourself accidentally." He sighed, "but I can't do anything about it." He looked at her,"I'd suggest not wounding Ms.Darla, she'll give your name a bad reputation and *poof* absolutely no chance of getting out of there."

Cinder narrowed her eyes slightly, suddenly all emotion leaving her green eyes and face. She started to braid her red hair and shrugged. "I carry a knife for protection. I'm not going to hurt myself, I know how to use it." She then pulled up her sleeve, the large wound/scar on her arm visible. "I'm quite sure I don't want this happening again, so now little paranoid Cinder carries a 6 inch blade with her everywhere because she fears her own shadow." She said, her voice becoming a quiet hiss of something between anger and hysteria, and she suddenly froze as memories flashed through her mind, she paled and her green eyes widened in panic as she stared in front of her, gripping the knife at her side until her knickles were white. She was never this panicked around people. She as tense and trembling slightly now.
