"Ooh," Frankie grinned as the other person hit the trashcan successfully. "Yeah, I'd have to agree. Plus you throw pretty good, that'd be hard to forget," she said, still grinning. "I'm Frankie then," she said, adding it in as an afterthought.

Almost first thing in the morning Dahlia woke up to her alarm going off. There was no constant beeping or siren, but one of her favorite songs. Turning off the alarm she sat up in bed and looked around at her room. It did not matter that school was over and summer had started, she wanted to wake up at the same time. Hopefully she would be able to get up and not just go back to sleep. After months and months of waking up at the same time it was hard to just not get up.
Getting out of bed Dahlia started to get ready for the day. In about an hour she was ready. The only reason it took that was long was because she tended to mess with her hair for way to long. Most days it never seemed to want to put up with anything, and on those days she just pulled her hair into a braid or ponytail. Today just happened to be one of those days. With her brunette hair up in a ponytail she looked at her outfit in the mirror. Shrugging to her reflection she grabbed her faux leather purse and headed out of her room.

The sun was a soft yellow orange globe in the sky when Dahlia walked out. It was still early and it was not quite the middle of the day where it reached insane temperatures. Slipping on her sunglasses she started to walk to where she felt like going. Taking the car would have been easier but she felt like walking. Staying fit and healthy was almost an obsession of hers. That meant if she could walk somewhere she would. As she walked the bottom of her black gladiator sandals slapped the concrete sidewalk.
Dahlia was about halfway to town when she came to the park. It was a place where she spent a lot of time whenever she visited was younger. Of course she had grown older and never really came back. Walking through the park on her way town would not hurt.
Passing by some joggers out for a run she saw someone up ahead. He was sitting alone and just looking at his phone. Walking over she smiled at him."Hey, anyone sitting here?" she asked pointing to the empty spot on the bench.

With school over it meant that Tyson could sleep in. That was the original plan anyway. Then around the same time he would normally wake up he heard knocking on his door. "Get up, it's a nice day outside" came the voice from the other side. Sighing Tyson rolled over and ignored his mother. Yeah it was nice outside, but he just wanted to sleep. Of course the constant reminders about the day would not stop until he got up.
Sliding out of bed he quickly changed into some jeans, a Hollister shirt and some Vans. Opening the door he could smell bacon from where he stood. Making his way to the kitchen he entered, grabbed a piece of toast and then walked out. There would always be leftovers and he just wanted to get out of the house. The only reason his mom was off of work was because she was using her vacation days to take some time off this week to relax.
Once outside Tyson munched on the toast as he walked. Where he was going was not set in stone. In fact, there was not a single place he thought of. The coffee shop? That would work since he needed the caffeine to help him wake up anyway.

Vern looked up as a shadow crossed the ground close to him. Pausing the music on his phone he pulled his headphones down, looking up at the girl. Noticing her gesture towards the bench, he smiled. "No, no one at the moment," he said, scooting over a little bit more to the edge to give her plenty of space. He was unsure what to say, but it seemed almost rude to just leave his headphones on and ignore her, so he decided to try and strike up a conversation. "Pretty day out," he said, mentally slapping himself. It was just like something his father would say.

Sitting down Dahlia right away crossed her legs. It was a habit she had picked up when she was in middle school. Ever since then it had stuck. People could say that it was un-ladylike all they wanted, she did not care. The world around them was changing every day and her crossing her legs was not going to harm anyone. If it ever got to the point where it somehow did hurt someone then she would just give up the habit, or try to. Giving up a habit, good or bad, was not an easy task.
Turning her head she looked at the guy as soon as he spoke. "Yes, but it's still early. Also come the middle of the summer it will be almost a hundred degrees outside" . They did not live in a desert, but during summer most places had temperatures that could fry an egg on the sidewalk. "Oh, I'm Dahlia by the way". More then likely this guy did not care who the heck she was. All she was a stranger, until now.

I smile. "Thanks. I'm Jezibelle, call me Jaz." I reach into the bag and take out the gum, and stick a piece in my mouth. I stick out a piece to Frankie. "Want some?" I ask.

Frankie nods to the piece of gum, taking it. "Thanks," she adds. "This is really good, what type is this?" she asks after a minute of chewing. She wads up the wrapper and tries for the second time to hit the trashcan, and misses by half an inch. "Ugh, yeah maybe I should stop trying that," she said, grabbing the wrapper and putting it in the trashcan.

Vern - Male - 19
Vern grinned right away, liking the girl almost instantly. "You're right," he added after a moment or two. "Though I do like to enjoy it the most that I can while the weather is still bearable outside." He was always more or less an outside kind of guy, but mainly because most of the time it was quiet, especially there at the park. Even then he tended to get out in the super hot weather just because not too many other people were out, and he wasn't overly sensitive to hot or cold temperatures.
"I'm Vern," he said, resisting the urge to stick out his hand to shake. It was a habit of his he picked up from his father being a business man, and while it wasn't a bad habit to have around some people, a girl he had just met in the park probably didn't want to shake his hand.

"Hey it was close," I say impressed. "And this is mint," I say simply. "In there," I point to the market next to me. "And you're very welcome." I smile. "Do you go to our school?" I asked. I had not seen her this year, maybe next year.

"Actually, I might have? This year was my last," Frankie said, a hint of sadness in her voice. "I'm going to have to get some of that gum..." she mumbled quietly. "Hey, walk over there with me? That is, if your not busy..." She said, trailing off.

"Vern" Dahlia said repeating it out loud. "That's not a name you hear everyday, but I like that. It's unique in a way". More then often guys had names like Jacob, John, Nick and Charlie. Sometimes hearing those names made her wonder why the parents choose them. Was it because it was popular and easy to spell or just because they liked the name. Both of her parents decided to have both of their children have similar names, so her older sister was Delilah and she was Dahlia. Very close in spelling and in pronunciation.
Looking straight ahead at some of the trees a million questions filled her brain. Of course when you met someone you wanted to know more about them. It was just natural to learn new things and store them away in the back of your brain for later. "That makes sense, of course when it gets really hot I tend to go to the pool or beach. Do you like the beach?". That was a valid question. Many people hated the beach or even going near one.
