- four weeks today. four weeks ago was when she ran away, when she figured out her family didn't care and she could just disappear without a single one of her parents nor siblings noticing. that was the case until three days in to running away, when she'd come across a police officer who almost dragged her back to her home. she'd managed to escape them, which was risky and idiotic, considering they now had an eye out for her, which was something she didn't want to happen. if anything, she wanted as little attention on her as possible, which wasn't out of the ordinary considering she was ignored three quarters of the time anyways.
she'd been up since the crack of dawn, probably because she hardly slept in the first place. a back alley or the occasional park bench was where she called home now, knowing little about the acts of stealth. others tended to overlook her per usual, which was beneficial as people were searching for her. filomena had just left a gas station, and there she had spent a few hours in the bathroom thinking to herself and worrying. where was she even going to go now? she wasn't going back home. could she run off to a different city and start a new life there? after all, she was eighteen. the thought was comforting that she could practically do as she pleased now; the police didn't have to drag her back if she didn't want to go back anyways. she was a legal adult now, but with that came less responsible decisions she was making.
the girl trodded on, now heading towards a forest she was slightly familiar with. it was where she spent her days, dawdling around in a random tree here or there or chilling out in a random place, keeping her eyes out for any predators. bears lurked in these woods, to her discontent. most animals frightened her, and with the only protection she had being her fourteen-year-old brother's pocket knife hidden away in her back pocket, she didn't trust being out in the open with little care. after stepping into the line of trees, she inhaled the brisk scent of fresh air and greenery, which was nothing short of comforting to her. she'd often visit here when she was still living with her mother and father, though they'd hardly notice. after all, they had plenty more kids to tend to.
she heard voices and followed them, which wasn't a good idea; soon the young woman found herself pressed against the back side of a tree, mere meters away from three males, one of which had an intimidating dog that she hoped couldn't find her scent. after peering around a little more, mena noticed a female behind a tree as well not so far away, and she quietly stared over at the other. filomena imagined she looked atrocious-- her green eyes were a bit sunken, mascara smeared in the corners faintly; her black hair hung up in a high ponytail, not to mention her large jacket, beanie, jeans, and sneakers were what she was wearing-- but she didn't really pay attention to her looks as she peered around the tree then at the girl again. she rose an eyebrow, as if asking if they should interact with the three, and awaited an answer curiously.
