Thomas shifted his head as far as he could toward Travis. "Hey your Grand entrance didn't help any. I was doing what the king told me to do. I had no idea they would react this way." he told him firmly.

Blackcloud sighed. He knew that she did not like his answer. He was not speaking harshly or being hostile but he understood where other members of the tribe were coming from. "He met someone while he was gone. A woman. They became close rather quickly." he looked away. He knew that Vicious had kept this to himself for a long time but he wanted her to understand. "They had a child. A little girl." He told her as his voice became distant, as if he was going back to that time. "They didn't bother anyone. None of us did. One day, out of the blue, English soldiers, men like these, came into our home. There were to many to fight but he tried. He was beaten and forced to watch as they killed his woman and child before burning down his Atepa." he told her as he looked back to her. "Not all of them may be like that but it is better to be safe than to be sorry. It was because of that , he came back and seemed more distant then." He reminded her.

Ni looked up from the ground. "I've...never heard that story." she said. She really wanted to say more on that, that not all of them were like that. But she didn't want to fight with him anymore. She stood next to him by the tree and just sighed. "I guess the elders will handle it..." she got quiet for a minute. "I'm sorry I said why I did...it wasn't what I meant." she apologized, happy to get that off her chest.

Travis scoffed. "When you go into someone else's territory and home. Someone you know nothing about you enter with caution. You do not just walk in and start telling them that they need our protection in their own land." He said with a colder edge. "I do not see why you follow orders so blindly of a king who does not care." He said rather bluntly.

"If you think all of this was such a horrible idea, then why did you come?" Thomas asked in a hard tone. He didn't need to be told how to do his job by some underling of the crew.

Blackcloud looked at her with a distant gaze. "That is because he does not let anyone know what happened." he told her. He sighed a bit. "It is alright." he said in a shallow tone.

Ni was looking at Blackcloud, but he wouldn't look back at her. She suddenly turned her head away when she realized she kind of zoned out. She sighed, feeling a little sensitive about his tone. She leaned away from the tree and began to walk away, rather slowly for some reason, wondering if he would stop her and keep talking.

Travis smirked. "To escape the beatings I took." He said simply. He had devised a cover story that was mostly true. The one that 'Travis' was suppose to have married was abusive and struck 'him' on a regular bases. "I came here to answer to no one and that includes you. You think you know so much Thomas, just because you have orders from a king who could care less about you." he said in a calm and simple tone.

Blackcloud let his mind come back to the present and realized that he may have hurt Ni a bit when he was not paying attention. He caught her by the wrist lightly. "I'm sorry. I did not mean to be distant again." He told her.

Thomas didn't reply to Travis this time. He was just done with speaking to him. He just shook his head and sighed tolerantly. He hoped the rest of the men wouldn't realize their absance. Knowing them, they probably wouldn't, but of they did, they could smite this tribe. That obviously wasn't what he wanted.
