Chu saw Ni run out of her family's Atepa. She saw the marks on the young girl and became enraged. This was not the first time that it had happened. However with each time she grew less tolerant. He went in and went off on Ni's father. She warned him that if he struck the girl again he would find his home filled with deadly snakes. The scary part is that Chu would do it without hesitating. She was after all, the snake charmer of the village. Having said her peace she went out looking for Ni. She found her in a tree and leaned against the base below the branches. "Are you alright?" She asked her in a kinder tone then she had shown her father.

Ni looked down to the base of the tree, sucking in her tears at first. "Leave me alone, Chu." She said with uneasy breath, letting her sobs out again. Part if her hoped she actually wouldn't leave her.

Chu side stepped and made her way up the branched to sit on a branch near Ni. "You know better than that." She told her. "If he hurts you again. You come to me. I will deal with your father." She told her. Chu was aggressive for a woman of the tribe and there were not many who would trifle with her.

Ni looked up at Chu. "He's not going to. I'm leaving anyway..." She told her. "But thank you." She wiped her years from her checks and started to calm down.

Chu listened and let herself drop to the ground. She landed in a crouch and looked to Ni. "You don't need to. You don't have to go back to your parents but you don't need to run either." She knew that running was never the answer. "Once you start running, you will never stop." She told her softly.

Ni watched as Chu climbed down the tree. Of course she wasn't actually going to run away. With all the white men here, she was too afraid to. What she really needed to do was get married so she would be able to leave her parents. But she was just a bit too young for that. She sighed and curled up in a ball, thinking of her choices.

Chu set a hand on her shoulder as she knelt beside her. "Ni, you can stay with me. You do not have to go home." She told the young girl. Chu had taken a protective air over Ni since she had first seen her father abuse her. Her and a couple other kids in the tribe. She despised the idea of anyone abusing a woman or child.

Ni looked at Chu with wide eyes. "Could I?" She asked. She defiantly didn't want to go home.
